Not believing to be someone special craves no effort

An image of a specific person is constructed by postulating automatic reflexes to be of your own choice and suppressing the natural reflexes that does not fit into how you image yourself to be. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

An image of you as someone special is fabricated by postulating automatic reflexes to be of your own choice and suppressing those natural reflexes not fitting into the image of you, that you want the world to see. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Sometimes a doctor may check the function of a body by knocking on special points to see if the involuntary movements – also called reflexes – works. But in fact, everything you appear to do in the world where there seems to be more than one is involuntary movements. That is unless you work very hard to control them so that your appearance seems to be in accordance with the person you have planned for the world to see.

To make the formlessness of that which is you appear as if it is someone special is not easy. It takes many years of going to school plus many special lessons to learn how to exclude what you judge not to be special.

In order to fabricate an image of you as someone special, the behaviour of automatic reflexes is translating into something, that seems to be an autonomously choice of someone specific. And by learning how to suppress the reflexes, that do not fit into this image of being someone specific, you become a person who seems to do everything by its own choice, while those judged to be outside of you seem to be doing things against or in favour of you by their choice.

Undoing the belief in being someone special is like taking a step into the unknown – but as life cannot be known, that is exactly where you will find it.

The specific appearance of you, that like a puzzle have been put together through many trials an error, is believed  to be separated from what you have decided not to be you and that you perceive as appearances outside of you, so that it seems the world consists of you and them, whom all are different individuals living an autonomous life.

When a ball is coming your way, it´s a natural reflex to respond and following such reflexes is pure fun.

When this is believed to be a game that you are playing, it is easy to play along, but when believed to be real, it is hard work, because you always have to suppress the natural flow in order to appear as someone living your own special life at your own pace.

It is so much easier just to go with the flow of the natural reflexes. It also feels so much better, because going with the flow you feel fulfilled, and so you do not need to be someone special. Being nobody is great, because then there is not somebody else – and that is so peaceful.

When blaming your parents, society and whatnot for having conditioned you, forces judged to come from outside appear to victimize you, so that they – and not you – seem to be the cause of your behaviour. In other words, your arguments for having been conditioned by others make it possible for you to override your sense of fairness and behave in ways that otherwise would not be acceptable to you.

Yet others are not to blame for how you are conditioned. It is you, who have chosen to be conditioned by your parents, society and whatnot. Maybe you wanted the acknowledgement, that seemed to come from such a choice – or maybe you wanted to live an easy life as a consumer who only has to ratify others decisions.

You can read more about choosing in hack #2.2 Choosing or not.

No matter for what reason you have chosen to be conditioned by others, the choice can be undone when acknowledged as your choice, as being yours you can always make a new one.

When you stop what is causing self-hatred. namely the belief in a self, there is no hatred to let go of.

There is no way to survive as someone specific without physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically regularly taking something – for example food, the point of view, love and power – from something or somebody that appears to be outside of you. Consequently, everybody believing to be someone specific are afraid of not getting enough. And if they get it, they are afraid it will be taken from them – just like they took it from somebody else.

Most feel guilty about taking as much as possible for themselves at the expense of others. Some try to suppress this guilt with the pleasure, that comes from being acknowledged by society when you are good at taken very much from others – and others start looking for ways to improve themselves. They may try meditating, sharing and seeing everybody as equals in an attempt to purify the self, they believe to have. Yet they do not realise they are just exchanging one illusion with another.

As long as an alcoholic keeps drinking, there is no way of letting go of hangovers. But if the alcoholic stops doing, what causes the hangovers, which in physical terms is the consuming of alcohol, there is no need of letting go of hangovers, because they are not there any more.

The new state of mind, that they appear to obtain feels so much better for a while, but as nothing in the world last, neither does the experience of this new self as a better one. So they start hating it – just like they did the old one. Thus they look for new ways to let go of self-hatred.

When you do not believe to be someone at all, there is no self. Yet what is left is not a non-self or no self. What is left is that which always was there and always will be since it is formless and therefore endless, namely that which is one.

Yet there is only something to let go off because you believe to have a self. If you do not believe to be someone specific, there is nothing to hate and nothing to let go off.

If you are revolting against your parents, your personality becomes an anti-version of theirs, so that your thinking, feelings and actions are based on what you try to avoid. In other words: Your parents and you are two sides of the same coin.

The same applies to be detached from the world. Your detachment is based on what you are detached from, and so the detached and the world are two sides of the same coin.

Among some alternative persons, it is fashionable to not be a person. But the point of reference for that is being a person, so not being a person and being a person are two sides of the same coin.

That which is you is not a person in a body. You are the formlessness of that which is one, so to appear in a world defined by time and space, you must pretend to be something you are not. Just like within the context of such a world you must pretend, you want to conquer the world when playing a game like Risk – even though this is not part of your personality. But if you do not pretend, you want to conquer the world, the game is no fun, and so you may be better off not playing it.

Likewise, if you do not participate in the game of being a person in a world defined by time and space, which always is to wish for being and having more, you may be better off leaving such a world.

Meditating or doing other things to not have a personality (or ego) only confirms that you have one, because that is the reason for meditating.

But why not just play the game of being a person? What is the danger? You want to avoid the personality because you think it is an illusion – and you are right – but it is also an illusion to avoid an illusion. Everything in a world where there appear to be more than one is equally illusionary, so there is no risk in playing the game of being and having more than that which is one. In fact, it is a lot easier than fighting it – and so much more fun!

Often those claiming to be into spirituality are quite fed up with what they appear, but instead of facing that they use metaphysical or psychological ideas to fence off the feeling of the moment as it is and wait for a better world to come. But by fencing off the moment as it is they actually confirm, what they are trying to fence off, namely the moment as it is. Consequently, they need not wait for a better world to come.
