SC To be is to be entertained [draft]

When the brain supplies you with thoughts of fury, and you give it your best shot to perceive yourself as angry, you cannot help but feel happy. The same applies to any other so-called negative feeling. That is as long as you do not justify it with the world because doing so, you distance yourself from it and, therefore, also the joy of exploring it. Hence you do not feel happy but lost. In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from having read hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

The goal of the duality hacks is not to prolong life. It is not possible. Life has no end. The purpose, therefore, is to undo the belief that you are someone with a beginning and end. It is also to make that belief enjoyable while in the process of having it undone.

As this belief is based on the experiences produced by the brain, it is not by opposing the brain but by supporting it that you feel good. You back up the brain and its experiences by perceiving every one of them as it is what it is and not as it ought to be. By doing that, the brain rewards you with shots of happiness. Hence any kind of experience feels good.

Whether somebody wants to be transformed, live in the moment, get a new car, spouse or whatnot, it is all about entertainment. You can always count on the brain to deliver, regardless of you like it to appear as a dreamy, physical or spiritual experience. All you need to be entertained is to perceive the experience as ´it is what it is´ and not as ´I know what it is

Actually, the brain automatically makes a perception that says it is what it is. That is if you do not oppose it by making a perception that claims I know what it is. In the latter case, you will not feel entertained by the experience created by the brain because it will not live up to your expectation. Instead of acknowledging that you are wrong, you probably try to change the brain’s ways via meditation or something else that makes you appear to be in control.

Maybe you are on a quest for what you imagine to be the real purpose of your life. Searching for it, however, you will never find it because then you are not amused, and the only meaning of experiencing to be someone is to be entertained.

Since it is very lonesome to perceive itself as disconnected from the brain, the special self always tries to make itself feel as if it is part of something bigger. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

The brain is the sole director of a dream. What is believed to be you in or outside of it have no say in its course, except how to perceive it.

If this perception confirms that you are someone in the world of the dream, it feels as if it is real. But if what and where you experience to be is perceived to be a dream, it is felt to be a fantasy. Just like the thoughts and feelings during a movie, usually do not ratify the world in it as real because it is unerstood it an illusion meant to entertain you.

The same applies to the experience of what and where you appear to be when you believe to be awake. Every experience is fabricated by the brain. You have no say in that matter except how to perceive it and, therefore, how you will feel about it.

If your perception results in feeling entertained, it is in sync with the experience as it is produced by the brain. Still, if it results in feeling unjust, for example, the perception is out of sync because the brain never makes a personal experience. Just like a self-driving car managed by The Cloud never gets a private message.

Not perceiving an experience to be personal, thoughts and feelings regarding it are momentary. Thus it is just as entertaining to experience sorrow as joy. But when an experience is perceived to be personal, thoughts and feelings regarding it keep coming. The experience seems to drag on, if not externally then internally until you feel so depressed that you meditate or do something else to disassociate you from that.

In the latter case, you are the special self, and in the former case, the basic self, which, contrary to the special one, is just one second away from the nothingness of bliss. Read more about that here.

To come back to the basic self appears to be the goal of many gurus. They seem to think it is without ego and therefore live in the now, coming from the heart and whatnot. They are right in the assumption that it is without ego because the basic self does not pretend to have its own thoughts. But it does not know about living in the now or anywhere else but in the brain. Consequently, it does not come from anywhere but the brain. Just like a self-driving car is managed from by The Cloud, no matter what and where the car appears to be.

Some confuse the basic self for being enlightened, but since the experience of being someone is a fabrication of the brain and the enlightenment of that which is one erases that experience, you cannot be someone who is enlightened. You can think so, but then you are not the basic but special self.

For the special self, it is always about becoming better and bigger. Also, when it disguised as a do-gooder sends love and healing to someone judged to have less than itself because that shows the special self has more than the other one. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen

The special self always tries to find something that gives it lasting happiness. But that is not possible. In a world of duality, everything comes in pairs. You cannot have one without the other. Without sadness, you will not know when you are happy, for example.

Fortunately, sadness feels just as entertaining as happiness when your perception is in sync with the script of the brain. Hence there is no need for happiness to last for the basic self.

When you do not want anything, in particular, you do not need to fabricate a perception of someone who has something special. Thus your perception remains in sync with the script of the brain. And as its purpose is to entertain you, you feel entertained no matter what you get.

Whether you appear to be the basic or special self, the thoughts making up the experiences you seem to have are the same because they are not made by what you believe to be but the brain. The basic self perceives any thought as it is what it is, whereas the special self perceives all thoughts in such a way that they appear to hide something. It is, therefore, turned off by thoughts and not amused by every one of them like the basic self.

If the special self has to wait for something, it starts to think about what it could have done to prevent it because that enhances its perception of being in control. But as the basic self has no need to perceive it is in charge, it perceives the waiting time as it is what it is.

Hence it does get stressed but rest assured that the rest of the day will be entertaining.

The basic self does not need to make up a perception that seems to alter or transform the brain’s script into something that it appears to have made. Unlike the special self, it has no need to create, modify or change anything. Thus it perceives the script as it is what it is. And though it may feel frightened when the script makes it go down, it turns out to be just as thrilling an experience as going up.

Diving deep into the thrill of this, the perception of the basic self often become so abstract that there are moments with nothing but glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one. Click here if you want to learn how to have such glimpses.

The special self, on the other hand, does not feel thrilled by going down but frightened, because it perceives the script in such a way that it is not the brain but itself that is in charge of it, and it has no idea of how to get up again. Nor does it have moments with glimpses of enlightenment, as it is always looking for something bigger and better.

Being on your own makes you feel small, which the special self expects to fix by getting the power it imagines come from riches, going deeper or find something higher, for example.

The more the special self can convince others it can make the world better, the more powerful it appears to be, and the less it doubts itself.

Most of all, the special self refrain from being in sync with the script of the brain because it is afraid it would cause feelings that contradict the special perception it has made of itself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

If you think your car in a game like Monopoly actually can drive, your perception is out of sync with the script of the play. Consequently, the game does not seem to amuse but frustrate you. Likewise, if you believe that what you appear to in a world of duality is alive.

One thing that really contributes to the well-being of the basic self is that it perceives everything to happen by itself. Just like in a book, one is reading. Another thing that contributes is that it devotes itself to the present chapter in the book. Not in an attempt to live in the now, though, as it perceives the past and the future chapters of the book to be of similar importance for the story.

Contrary to the special self, who finds many mistakes in the book and thus feel disappointed, the basic self really enjoys it and feels grateful that someone has taken the time to write this adventure where it can participate without worrying about the future because every part of the story has been written for its entertainment.

Being the basic self is like being in intensive care in a hospital, except that you are not sick, and yet somebody is watching out for you. Actually, it is the same for the special self, but contrary to the basic one, it does not enjoy it because it perceives itself as an independent being who can take care of itself. This perception is even more illusionary than believing to be someone because, within this belief, everything experienced is a product of the brain, including the experience of being independent of it.

It is pretty entertaining to imagine something you are not. But believing the imagination is real and that you are a butterfly, for example, the experience becomes depressing. And even though you do not like that, the feeling seems so tangible that it appears to be a fact you are a butterfly. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

If the egoistic purpose of the special self is exposed, it will either deny it or say it is sorry and then go on precisely as before.

Every time there seem to be thoughts doubting each other, you can be sure you are out of sync with the script of the brain. Not in the way you act, because you are not free to change that, but in the way you perceive it.

Fortunately, this is easily corrected. Try different perceptions. The one that makes you feel entertained is in sync with the script of the brain. And as it is never too late to change your perception of the past, you can have had the best childhood ever. Read more about that in hack # 1.3 You cannot change the world, but you can change your perception of it.

The basic self does not understand why the special self always wants to be approved. It has no need for that itself because it always backs up an experience made by its maker, the brain, by perceiving it as ´it is what it is,´ wherefore the brain in return supports the basic self with shots of happiness.

Hence, the basic self does not know that you have to look for happiness yourself when you do not assist the brain. Nor does it know that the special self believes it comes from being confirmed as unique. Therefore, it needs to be in relationships where it can lay down the basic rules, namely that everything said and done by others should be an approval of its uniqueness.

The special self basically feels wrong. That is what it wants to hide by building a special image of itself. Appearing to be correct, though, is hard work when you actually feel wrong. Denying that you are mistaken requires so much justification and/or displacement activity that you get stressed.

The straightforward solution to this is to acknowledge, that you are mistaken because then you do not need to fight for being right, and so there is no need for doing something to make you look special.

So, be grateful, if you feel somebody makes you wrong because this is your chance to acknowledge this is how you feel and, therefore, set you free from always having to find mistakes in others so you can hide feeling mistaken yourself.

The basic self^ does not perceive itself as definitive but relative to the stream of thoughts coming from the brain. And since what and where it experiences to is an embodiment of that, the basic self is as entertained from feeling wrong as right or anything else. Read more about that here.

The special self does not know what it feels, only what it is supposed to experience if somebody is too late for an appointment, for example, or something else that is bad according to its theories of right and wrong. But this, it does not feel either because. The disappointment or rejection is suppressed in an explanation of being unjustly treated.

Anything explainable is mental and thus not a feeling.

The moment the special self stops justifying these made-up feelings, they are exposed to be as fake as how special you believe to be. Nothing in the script of the brain is about justice, and you cannot be anything else than planned by the brain. Its whole design is about entertainment and perceiving every feeling as it is what it is, that is what you get.

Hence, there is no need to avoid giving or receiving emotions to make the world appear per your theories. That is why all feelings, though experienced to be different, are perceived to be neutral. So, just like getting wet in the rain does not change what you are, nor does getting angry or glad.
