+ The special self is completely out of sync with the present

When the special self sees this image, it will need to make up a story that hides what it actually feels in this moment, so the moment can be experienced in accordance with its idea of right and wrong. The basic self, on the other hand, has nothing to hide. It has no concepts to live up to, so it sees what it sees. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

PART 1:
Being a special self does not come naturally. It requires much speculation about what to do and say, as well as a constant search for the real self. But being a basic self, this is not necessary. It has no need to be and do anything on its own but merely follows the instructions coming from the brain

There is no desire to know these instructions before they are needed to sync the basic self with the present moment. Being the basic self you, therefore, do not know what is around the next corner before you need to know it, which in most cases you do not need before you are there.

Nobody but the special self, which is made by subtracting what it does not like in the basic self, needs to have peace, love or something else added in order to feel complete.

But as the special self is a control freak, it needs to know everything in advance. Hence it digs into the past to combine fragments of it into a speculative view of what the future could bring. In most cases, however, its prediction is not entirely correct, so it twists its perception of the present or the past or both of them until they seem alike and its prediction to be correct.

Hence it appears as if the special self is in control because it knows so much – or at least is going to when it has excluded everything preventing it from being perfect. The more it excludes though, the more it dissociates itself from the nature of life, which is not exclusive but inclusive – read more about that here. Thus it excludes itself from feeling connected and consequently from feeling safe.

One should think, the special self would realise, it would be better not to be exclusive. But just like those, who hit their children tend to assume, that they must hit harder if did not work as intended, the special self concludes it must be more exclusive to feel safe.

When the apparent difference between you and the experienced is not perceived to make a difference, there is nothing but the bliss of not knowing what and where you are. This does not require closed eyes or anything else but the willingness to not be someone definitive. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

It, therefore, excludes more and more instead of using its anxiety as a take-off to the empty breath,* which is inclusive and therefore does not perceive the apparent difference between the special self and its experiences to make a difference.

Should you wonder, if your experience is in sync with the present, it is out of sync, because in the present you are what you experience.

In other words, you are in a state of not-knowing from where it is easy to return to the consciousness of being a basic self instead of a special one. And as the basic self is inclusive, it is not difficult to jump back and forth between that consciousness and the blissful state of not-knowing, instead of trying to become special when it seems boring to be basic.

PART 2:
Even though the body of the special self cannot be anything but in sync with the present moment,* mentally speaking the special self is entirely out of sync with it because it excludes
those parts of its experience, that does not fit into how it wants it to be.

This discrepancy the special self solves by in retrospect rewriting the course of the moment as if it was in charge or detached from it.

When negative and positive thoughts are not kept apart their meet cancel out each other, so there is nothing left but the bliss of emptiness. Read more about that here. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

PART 3:
Whenever you think you know something, you have eaten the fruits of good and evil from the tree of knowledge, so that you and those you consider as like-minded can be perceived as good and the others as evil. The result of this is uncertainty because it always feels as if something is missing when you project what you judge as wrong on others so you can feel good in a special group of people.

Not being exclusive but inclusive, there is no good and evil.

The solution to this is to bring back the projection to yourself so good and evil can meet where they were separated, namely in yourself, and thus cancel out each other – read more about that here – so there is nothing to define you as special. And consequently, nothing to distract you from happily following the commands of the brain so you are in sync with the present,* as it is established by the brain. Read more about that here.

*) Read about the empty breath in the below hacks:

**) The present moment has nothing to do with the popular concept of being in the now, because that excludes the past and the future, and the present includes every thought, feeling and action that appears to be in that moment, regardless of where the thoughts and feelings seem to come or if they are so-called negative or positive. Read more about that in hack #3.3 Life is inclusive and not exclusive.

NOTE: This article is part of hack #4.3 The basic self versus the special one, which is still in the process of being written.
