+ Where to find the bliss of ´the empty breath´

When you do not believe to be substantial, empty space takes over. This yin yang illustration could be simulating the swing of the empty breath coming out of it. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

As connectedness with the empty breath is a state of not-knowing, there cannot be a conscious experience of it. Hence the descriptions of it in Alexius´ Enlightened Non Teachings are based on vague but blissful memories popping up in Alexius after returning to the conscious experience of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

In other words, since the connectedness with the empty breath contrary to the experience of being someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one is not a conscious one, the connection must be established before the brain fabricate a conscious experience of you as someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one.

Science states, the world that we seem to feel and see consist of 99.9999999 percent empty space. And the rest – despite it also is empty space and there just like in a dream is nothing substantial in it – is what we perceive as elements of matter making up a world where there seems to be more than one. Thus to be someone definitive is make-believe no matter what you perceive to be.

On account of this taking up to one second to accomplish for the brain, there are countless of moments with no conscious experience of being someone definitive, and therefore nothing to hide that any conscious experience of something is an illusion made up from empty space. The empty breath, however, does not imagine itself or you to be anything else than empty space, so no matter what you believe to be, you are always embraced by it.

You connect with the empty breath by not connecting with the consciousness of you as someone definitive experiencing the tangible world, the brain spends almost a second to fabricate from what the senses seem to pick up in empty space. You can compare this to not turning on a video game, because you rather want the experience the physical world – except that the connectedness with the empty breath is not an experience but a state of not-knowing, and you have less than a second to connect with the empty breath instead of the fabricated image of you as someone definitive. Fortunately this is plenty of time, provided you are willing to not be conscious of anything at all. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

You in turn automatically connects with the empty breath in the second, it takes the brain to make a conscious experience of you being someone definitive, as there is nothing to define you and therefore no perception of being substantial, so the empty space of you is no different from that of the empty breath.

Forget about being conscious of the empty breath, as what you are conscious about is never the present but the past.

If hereinafter not picking up on the brains deceptive fabrication of you as someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one, the moment is a state of not-knowing.

But after 20 minutes, 45 at most, you must return to the consciousness of being someone definitive in order to prevent the brain from falling into coma – or simply never return to being someone at all, so that there is not something that seems to hide there never was or will be more than that which is one, since it is formless and therefore endless.

In case of the latter the bliss that comes from a state of not-knowing is over. So is the state of not-knowing or any kind of world, as it takes more than one to be somewhere.

Is the bliss of the empty breath the way to having the belief in being someone definitive undone or is the undoing of this belief the way to the bliss of the empty breath. As the question rises from the belief that you are someone definitive and that is an illusion fabricated from out of nothing, there is no answer to this or any other question. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

So what to do you in order to not be deceived by the brains fabrication of you as someone definitive and instead float in the bliss of the empty breath? This question, however, is just like any other question based on the belief that you are someone definitive, and the bliss of the empty breath comes from not believing this.

If it is the empty breath or not to believe you are someone definitive that comes first is like asking, if it is the egg or chicken that comes first. There really is no answer to that question and you only keep wondering about this, because you believe to be someone definitive and want to remain in this belief or are not in the connectedness with the empty breath and rather want to be in control of what you believe to be your own life.

The above about where to find the bliss of the empty breath is therefore not an attempt to answer this question but to rule it out. The same applies to the below, that is a more detailed repetition of the above:

You do not know, what you are reading in this very moment, because it takes up to a second for the brain to fabricate an experience of you as someone who is reading it. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

From where do you take-off to the bliss of the empty breath?
It only takes the brain a few milliseconds to register the present signals received from your eyes looking at this article. Yet these signals are not what you experience now, because it takes up to a second more for it to fabricate a conscious experience of them, so that they appear to be an experience of a world where there seems to be more than one, you as someone definitive is having here and now, even though it actually happened about a second ago.

The brain extrapolate the time it uses, which is about one second, in processing the info it receives from the senses in a given moment into an experience believed to confirm you are someone definitive, who is experiencing this now and not one second ago.

In other words, what you believe to read now, you read in the past, because your conscious experience of now is a delayed interpretation of what the senses received about one second ago.

When not organising thoughts and feelings into categories of good or bad, night or day and so on, they do not seem to represent a substantial world. Hence there is nothing to block out the empty breath, that does not know of such a world or that you believe to be someone there. All it knows is the nothingness from which you have made this fantasy, because it is that nothingness.

The data containing this image was received by your eyes at least one second ago, so the experience of being someone definitive who is experience it right here and now is a deception made by the brain – and so are all other experiences of what is considered to be now. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Thus you are never conscious of the present but the past, and since the empty breath is only in the present, the way to connect with it is to not be conscious but remain in the unconscious state, where the sensations hitting the senses has still not been processed by the brain into an image of a world where there seems to be more than one.

As the apparent different sensations hitting the senses therefore make no difference, there is no perception of separation, wherefore a world where there seems to be more than one is exposed as a fantasy made from the same nothingness as the empty breath. And so, without knowing it, there is no difference between you and the empty breath, that supports any fantasy of bliss that you are having while not believing to be someone definitive.

The experience of a dimensional world is fabricated by the brain, that overlays the flat signals hitting each eye into one seamless image, which conveys the experience of you as someone in a 3D world. See hack #2.4 Life is flat or hack #2.6 Size does not matter.

The brain uses five percent of its capacity to construct a self, that uses a selected part of the info hitting the senses in combinations with singled out memories, feelings and imaginations to create an exciting story about itself as someone special, which is preserved in consciousness by changing or denying all info that does not fit into the story of being special. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

How long time does the connectedness with the empty breath lasts?
Even though it is just five percent of the brain, that is used to form the consciousness of ourself as somebody definitive, the rest of the brain needs to kept active as if this consciousness is thinking thoughts of its own about a tangible world outside of it. Without this activity the brain is not able to continuously fabricate an experience of a tangible where there seems to be more than one.

In other words, you can only survive as someone definitive in the tangible world fabricated by the brain, if you are not too long in the bliss of the empty breath, which is a state of not-knowing. It seems that after 20 minutes, 45 at the most, without thoughts of me, me, me and them (see No talking is needed to come back to that which is one and The ins and outs of the inner senses), the consciousness of you as someone definitive fades out and the brain falls into a coma.

In most cases though the connection with the empty breath is very short. In fact no longer than the moment when the uncontrolled speed of thoughts and emotions ignites it and expands the body with empty space, which may be felt like going up with the swing of the empty breath (see the paragraph of the same name in the article What does ´the empty breath´ feel like?) or surfing the empty breath (see the paragraph of the same name in the article What does ´the empty breath´ feel like?) in an upward fashion on one of its waves.

Expansion and contraction is the basic contrast behind the fantasy of a world defined by time and space. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

The following contraction of the body may be felt respectively like going down with the swing of the inner breath or surfing the empty breath in a downward fashion on one of its waves. This ongoing expansion and contraction may besides from being felt as going up and down, which often is judged as if going from good to bad, also be felt like going forth and back, which may be experienced as a contrast between future and past or within and without. The expansion / contraction may as well be experienced as going from left to right, which may be sensed as going from being intuitive to being in control.

But no matter in which direction expansion and contraction is experienced to go (more about that in hack #8.4 The crucifixion of the ego), the general impression is that it is like going from a state of not-knowing to a state of being conscious of you as someone definitive – ergo from the empty breath to the ego.

Though your stay with the empty breath therefore is very short, you can return again with the next expansion, if going with the flow of expansion and contraction, because then there is nothing holding back the speed of thoughts and feelings in igniting a new take-off to the empty breath at the next expansion.

In this way you still appear to be someone who is conscious of itself, while you do not know what this means. In other words, you are in the world but not of it.

And do not worry that you are not constantly connected with the empty breath. It is not needed for it to work. If you have been connected with it just for a split second, it never forgets you. And it shows this by automatically synching the inner and outer senses, so that the peace of the inner ones help you get through the chaos of the outer ones.

Not in the sense though that it helps you getting a new spouse, more money and whatnot in the world of the outer senses, but in the sense that whether you appear to be alone, have money or whatnot, it is a constant reminder of that which is you is not someone definitive in a tangible world but the formlessness of oneness.

The graphic is grabbed from the web.

It takes time for the brain to adopt the sensory information it receives from the eyes and make it fit with the image of the world we believe to see outside of us. All info have to be flipped by the brain to produce an image of a world that does not look upside down.*** In case it does not receive sufficient data to produce the image we expect to see, it draws on our past experiences to fabricate what it predicts we hope to see.

We are not born with this skill though. The brain in a baby has not learned to flip the signals hitting the eyes, so a baby sees the world upside down. In order for a baby to fit into the collectively agreed image of the world, so it can be supported by it, the brain quickly learn how to control the incoming info from the eyes, so it is turned into a coherent right-side-up image centred around ourselves.*****

In a state of not-knowing, you do not know what and where you are. No worries. You do not need to know this. On the contrary. It is the assumption that you know this, which hides what you believe to be is nothing but empty space. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Other ways to a state of not-knowing
Inclusiveness also results in a state of not-knowing (see hack #3.5 Inclusiveness is pure bliss) and so does pretending to be someone instead of believing to be that (see hack #1.5 Pretending to be a person), or having glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one (see hack #4-7.3 The enlightenment of that which is one cannot be found in a world where there seems to be more than one, but glimpses of it can), or perceiving everything in a world where there seems to be more than one as symbols of that which is one (see hack #2.2 Everything experienced is a symbol of life), or acknowledging that the experience of such a world is something you are having alone together (see hack #8.8 Alone together is the key to that which is one).

All the other duality hacks (see More Duality Hacks and Extra Duality Hacks) except the enlightenment of that which is one result in a state of not-knowing as well. If they differ from each other is not to say, as the brain does not fabricate a conscious experience of them.

How many triangles are there in this image?
The brain will probably try to fill in the missing parts in the image to make you believe that there are two triangles. So when you are told, the grey triangle does not exist and the one partly framed by a black stroke only partially exist, you probably disagree, because it seems obvious that the grey triangle is there, since you experience to see its entire outline.

But if you cover the three incomplete black circles, the grey triangle disappears and the other one is obviously not complete.

As it is the brain that decides what we see, hear, feel, smell and taste, we are not free, but a self fabricated and controlled by the brain, that steers us towards what is best for the its own survival, namely whatever that ditch the fact that there is no self, since it requires more than one to be anything and there is no more that which is one, as it is formless and therefore endless.

So though the brain scientifically speaking is pure chemistry and the total sum of your memories, which equals what you believe to be, is stored there, you are not pure chemistry – neither something hidden like soul, cosmic energy or anything else conceivable – but empty space, since there is no more than the formlessness of that which is one.

Hence there is nothing to heal but the sick belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is one, which is healed the more a connection with the empty breath is established in the second before the brain fabricate a conscious experience of you as someone definitive experiencing the present moment.

When the brain momentarily screens out what you see, so you do not get seasick when moving your eyes, it fills the holes based on past memories. But as they most often have been heavily edited by you, the images fabricated by the brain may clash with the present moment, so that the discrepancy makes you feel something is wrong in you or the world. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

You are literally blind at least two hours a day
Two hours every day the brain screens out everything you see in order to prevent you from getting seasick, when you move your eyes. The reason you do not notice you literally are blind every now and then is that the brain fills the gaps with visual impressions of what it predicts to happen.*****

This prediction, however, is based on modified memories, because every time they have been recalled you have adjusted them to make it more clear that you are the good one and others are the bad ones. Hence a story fabricated by the brain to fill in a gap of blindness may not match the actual story the moment. Some therefore seems to conclude, there is something is wrong with their own story. But most conclude it is the story of others that are wrong.

Most likely you do not read this article as it is, but replace part of it with what your brain predicts you want to be there.

Basically, however, there is nothing is wrong but the perception of ourselves as somebody definitive in a substantial world. Such a world does not exist and neither do we. No matter how we or the world is experienced, it is an imagination made in empty space – also whatever we experience to be inside of us, because we are the imagination, even though we are not in it or the imagination in us. Just like within the context of this imagination, a dreamer is the dream even though not in it and the dream not in the dreamer, since there is nothing in it.

The world is not seen with the eyes but the brain, which translates the sensory sensations hitting the eyes into an image of a world in accordance with our expectations.

The same applies to what we believe to hear, feel, smell and taste.****** Fortunately the brain is not able to translate the empty breath, and so the world is seen without judgment when connected with it.

In a state of not-knowing it is not possible for the brain to establish the usual consciousness of you as someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one, because the empty breath is indifferent to it. This does not mean the consciousness of you as someone definitive is replaced by something better or higher but by no consciousness at all. Thus there is nobody to be conscious about the bliss that comes from not believing to be someone at all. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

There is no consciousness of differences in a state of not-knowing
In a state of not-knowing you are blind in the sense, that there is nobody to experience you as someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one.

Thankfully this is resolved by the empty breath and not the brain. It registers the sensations hitting the senses in the exact same way as always, but as the connectedness with the empty breath fences off the creation of a conscious experience of them, there is no awareness of how the different sensations normally are categorised in contrasts with opposing sides of good or bad, right or wrong and so on.

Since there is no separation without an awareness of contrasts, no difference is perceived between you and the world. Hence there is nobody to know how blissful it is to not believe you are someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one – or that remaining in this state for more than 20 minutes, max 45, all memories are erased, so nothing appears to hide there never was or will be more than that which is one.

If you do not believe that the image the brain has fabricated of you as someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one is real, you are nothing but empty space, because being someone at all is fantasy made from that, since this is not possible at all, as that which is one is formless and therefore endless, so it takes more than one to be someone. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Should the body, that you appear to be living in, one day keep dropping things on the floor, the brain may fabricate an image of you being a person who is clumsy or not grounded. If you believe this definition to be true, you may also believe that being clumsy or not grounded is something you should work with in order to become a better person.

Trying to do this you are confirming the image the brain has fabricated of you as a clumsy person. Though you may not like this person and you may not be able to improve it, you submit to the image the brain has made of you, because the alternative to not believe being the person the brain has fabricated seems frightening, since without that image to fill you up as if you are substantial, you are nothing but empty space.

But if you do not mind this, there is nobody to miss the fabrication of the brain, because there is nobody to know, there ever was such a fabrication, since you are in a state of not-knowing.

Yet the urge to experience the excitement of being and having more than that which is one may be so strong, that when the brain once in a while – maybe just for a split second – succeeds to break through the state of not-knowing with a conscious version of you as someone definitive in a world where there seems to be more than one, the excitement of what you can be and have as someone definitive seems so attractive, that you agree to judge specific sensory sensations as better than others.

Thus a state of not-knowing is over until you are so fed up from looking for something better, that the almost involuntary reflex to divide the world into right and wrong is dismissed in favour for the indifference of the empty breath.

A state of not knowing is not the end station, but a way to see that there is no end, and that everything appearing to have an end is an illusion, since there is no more than that which is one, as it is formless and therefore endless.

The graphic is grabbed from the web.

There is no more than that which is one
Be aware that empty space is not spirit, neither is the empty breath, as it takes more than one to be something and spirit is that which is one. The connectedness with the empty breath is simply a way to undo the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is one by becoming indifferent to the apparently different frequencies hitting the senses.

When that is totally carried out there is no more world to see, because when the conscious experience of you as someone definitive fabricated by the brain is ignored by the empty breath, there is nobody believing to be somebody. Thus nobody is having an experience, and as a world where there seems to be more than one solely exist as an experience created by the brain it is no more, neither is there anybody to know it ever appeared to be there.

Thus there is nothing but the empty space where it was imagined to be, and so there is not something that seems to hide there never was and never will be more than the formlessness of oneness.

To follow the flow of the empty breath is really no different from following the flow of the genitals. Though you in both cases momentarily may end up in a state of not-knowing, the latter probably is extremely short and what must be done in order to repeat it enhances the belief in being someone definitive instead of undoing it.

So even though it is through following the flow of the empty breath, the belief that there is more than that which is one is undone, this flow and the bliss that it entails cannot be upheld, as it takes more than one to follow the flow and uphold its bliss.

This does not mean, that you must let go of the flow, because that confirms the belief you are someone definitive. But it means you do not choose to follow the flow of the empty breath or anything else, as it takes more than one to follow as well as to choose something. In other words, by choosing not to choose, that which is one is chosen.*******
