+ The ins and outs of the inner breath

Haven chosen not to be in control, the inner breath automatically guides me. It can be compared to driving a car in automatic gear, which works regardless I am aware of it or not. In other words, when connected with the inner breath, I do not have to always remember it. But I have to remember not to change the gears myself*. That can take some time getting used to, if you are the kind of person, who is used to think that you can do everything yourself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Keeping a balance between inner and outer senses or anything else has nothing to do with spirituality. There is no balance in spirituality, as it takes more than one to be in balance and spirituality is that which is one. But in a world where there seems to more than one, it works very well having the inner breath synchronizing the world of the outer and inner senses, so that glimpses of enlightenment** from the inner senses become the foundation for how to perceive the world of the outer senses.

The inner breath is the meeting point between the outer and the inner senses.

This is not to say that spirituality is inside, but that with the outer senses partially closed it is easier to see, that a world where there seems to be more than one is a virtual reality used to hide the spirituality of that which is one. With this realiSation as the basis for your appearance in the world of the outer senses, it is quite fun pretending to be someone there – just like pretending to be someone in the world of a video game is fun, as long as you are aware that it is an illusion.

Introducing the inner breath
The first full article about the inner breath in Alexius´ Enlightened Non Teachings is Take-offs to the inner breath, which is all about how to connect with it, so that your own experience of the inner breath is your introduction to it. That article came as quite a surprise. Not because I am not familiar with the inner breath. On the contrary, it seems to be the reason I am having such an effortless life in the world of the outer senses. Yet, I am so used to it, that I did not envisaged it to be something to write about.

There is, however, not much to say about what it is, because this you can only know by not breathing yourself and instead have the inner breath expand and contract your body on its own accord. If the lack of control seems scaring to you, you can use this uncertainty to ignite a take-off to the inner breath, where after you will not care about control. See the previous articles of how to ignite take-offs to the inner breath.

The inner breath is amongst other things triggered by not being exclusive but inclusive***, as the apparent differences in the world of the outer senses do not make a difference when being inclusive. That is, if there are things you forget to include, because if everything is included the contrast of inside and outside is no more. In other words, there is no more than the formlessness of that which is one, and so there is no need for the inner breath, because what is formless its endless, so you have everything.

But most likely there are thoughts and feelings you forget to include, and so you still appear to be something definitive. Yet not as certain about it as before – and this crack in your personality is enough for the inner breath to be able to work on its own accord, and start undoing the belief in being someone definitive.

Happy Sad
At first it may feel as if the inner breath is too slow to supply you with all the air that you feel is needed for breathing. But if you do not override the flow of it*, everything is just fine, and you are guided to the world of the inner senses.

If you in the past have blocked out feelings of for instance humiliation, rejection and inferiority by hiding them in the body, these feelings are intensely felt, when connecting with the inner breath, as the flow of it unblocks everything .

But if you do not out try to exclude the unpleasant feelings from the past, and instead include them by totally being them, you will not only feel sad but also happy, because it is such a relief not having to escape the sadness of the past anymore.

It could also be that it feels as if you do not have enough room for the inner breath or that it is more painful than joyful, especially if you in the past have excluded specific feelings by projecting them onto obscure parts of the body, for example the muscle called psoas, which is often used to hide fear, worries and frustrations.

Hence psoas and its corresponding muscle the diafragma may have become too weak to freely move with the flow of the inner breath, so that it seems the inner breath makes you sad and not happy. But if you do not look forward to a perfect experience of happiness, it takes no time to feel happy sad.

Though being connected with the inner breath, you may experience it to imprison you, but that is a projection based on your own imprisonment. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

Being connected with the inner breath, you may experience that it imprisons you, but that is a projection based on your own feeling of imprisonment. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

The indifference of the inner breath sets you free from the need to be free
Looking forward to the expansion and contraction of the inner breath moving totally freely without bodily restrictions is a waste of time. First of all, you will not be able to enjoy the flow of it, if you are looking forward to a specific way of feeling it in the future. And secondly, the expansion and contraction of the inner breath will never be experienced to flow completely unhindered by the body.

The connection with the inner breath can only be partial, but that is enough for it to be the meeting point between the inner and outer senses, so that going back and forth between them is carried out automatically.

There is no perfection in a world, where there seems to be more than one, because there is no more than the formlessness of oneness. To keep up the belief, that it is possible to be and have more than that which is one requires much control, which is counterproductive in regards to the inner breath, that moves on its own accord.

Nothing can restrict the inner breath, because it has no need to be something definitive. Yet believing to be someone definitive is a restriction, that will cause everything is experienced to be confined.

No worries, the inner breath does not need to flow unhindered in the body in order to feel free – neither for it to undo the belief in being someone definitive – because the inner breath is not something definitive, so it has nothing to be free from and no need to be acknowledged in a specific way. It is what it is, in spite of you experiencing the expansion and contraction of it to flow smoothly or not or being aware of it at all.

It is you, who do not feel free, because you are dependent on constantly being acknowledged by somebody – physically, mentally and emotionally, whether off or online – in order to feel alive as someone definitive. The feeling of imprisonment that this entails you want to break out of, and as you assume the inner breath just like you is something definitive, you expect it has the same desire for freedom as you.

You do not even have to remember the inner breath to have an easy life. Yet you do have to remember not to forget, your intention is to not be someone special, so that you do not override* the flow of the inner breath in order to appear as someone definitive.

Fortunately there is nothing to solve and no feeling of imprisonment to heal, because going with the flow of the inner breath – no matter in what way it is experienced to be – you go with the indifference of it, and so the apparent difference of feeling free or not makes no difference.

Connectedness with the inner breath comes from choosing not to choose, so that the auto pilot supplied by the oneness of life can take over.

hol_majorNot being in control, there is nothing to obstruct you from being guided by the inner breath
The rhythmic flow of the inner breath may be heard as a sound coming from the back head, yet as if the head is not there and there is nothing else than the awareness of the sound – or as if it is not coming from you at all but from somewhere indefinable. This sound, that you do not do anything to produce and that can be compared to the sound of saying soham, seems to originate from the sixth chakra (third eye) – not the part of it in the forehead though but in the back of the head, see in the illustration to the right.

This illustration is from the book Healing Hands by Barbara Ann Brennan, who´s knowledge about aura and chakras does not seem to be second-hand. Aura and chakras, however, are not part of Alexius´ Enlightened Non Teachings, as they often are used to escape feelings of alienation through spaced out illusions of spiritual grandeur.

When the energy of this chakra, that may be located a little lower than the illustration seems to imply, is going clockwise you will mostly experience the world of the outer senses as troublesome, but counter-clockwise you are upgraded to a more laid-back version of it, where it seems easier not to try being in control but going with the guidance of the inner breath. If the energy is stagnated the inner breath seems out of reach, and you may be fixated in a mental pattern, that you probably carry out very strong-willed.

This image found on Facebook shows the common misunderstanding, namely that life is yours, where as reality it is the other way around and if you try to edit life, you will suffer.

This image, that is found on the web, shows a very common misunderstanding, namely that life is yours. In reality it is the other way around, so the more you try to control your appearance by editing life, the more suffering it seems to cause you.

It is you, who choose the direction of the energy in the chakra and also to clog it, if that is the case – and so it is only you who can change it.

The choice of clogging the chakra comes from the desire to be in control of how the world of the outer senses is experienced, so that you can edit it to your own likings. Consequently you will not choose the free flow of the inner breath as the basis of your life in the world of the outer senses, until you acknowledge, that you do not know what is in your own best interest.

Collecting thoughts of this and that to build an interesting personality in order to not feel as nobody but somebody is not a problem in itself. It is the belief, that the body represents this construction of thoughts, which makes the it one big blockage to the enlightenment of that which is one. This does not mean it needs to be refined by yoga and whatnot in order for it to not block out the enlightenment of that which is one. The state of it is just not important in regards to that. Yet, just like you take care of your car – even though it is not you – so it can carry you around in the world, you take care of your body for the very same reason. Collecting specific thoughts to fabricate an interesting personality in order not to be nobody but somebody special is not a problem in itself. It is the belief, that the body represents this construction of thoughts, which turns it into a big blockage of the enlightenment of that which is one. This is not to say that the body needs to be refined by yoga or something else to not block out the enlightenment of that which is one. The state of the body is not important in regards to the enlightenment of that which is one, because all what is needed to bid it welcome is to undo your belief in being someone special. This does not mean though, that you do not take care of the body. Just like you take care of your car – even though it is not you – you also take care of your body, as long as you appear to be in a world, where the formlessness of life seems to be separated into definable appearances. The graphic is grabbed from the web.

On a personal note
I have had and partly still have blockages in the body, that seem to prevent the flow of the inner breath. Yet nothing can block out the inner breath. If it seems so it is just because we are trying to block out some feelings ourselves in order to uphold the belief that we are someone unique.

You can never become someone special in a specific body, except in your imagination – and imagination is what blocks out that which is you, because it cannot be imagined. It takes more than one to imagine something, and that which is you is no different from that which is one.

To become someone special in a specific body is not possible, as that which is you is not different from the formlessness of that which is one. Yet it is possible to imagine being someone special in a world where there seems to be more than one – just like within the context of such a world it is possible to imagine being the hero in the virtual world of a video game. In other words, it is the imagination of you as someone special that blocks out the formlessness of that which is you.

Fortunately I have never been very successful in upholding the appearance of being someone unique, and as it only takes one moment, where we forget what and where we are, to bid welcome the enlightenment of that which is one, I long time ago became someone who is to be compared to the enlightenment of that which is one.

The enlightenment of that which is one – and no philosophy or religion – is the sole basis for Alexius´ Enlightened Non Teachings. The voice behind them comes from a non-physical entity I call Gudruång, whom I seem to be a physical extension of.

Still the subject is overriding the natural flow by following your own plans to appear as someone special instead of living an effortlessly life as nobody.
