´I know what it is´ vs ´it is what it is´ vs ´dunno what it is´ PART 2

There are endless parallel universes in the brain. Like in a computer game, they are in the code that determines the subsequent events caused by your choices. Since the setup is encrypted, the outcome of your decisions plays out as arranged in advance by the brain. In other words, you can decide which way to go but not the result of that. You are, however, free to perceive your reaction to the outcome as you wish. But if that is out of sync with the brain’s script of duality, you feel frustrated rather than entertained – just like a movie is not fun to watch if not aligned with the plot.  Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

PART 1:
When your reaction to the brain’s script is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ you feel entertained no matter how it proceeds – just like you do when you watch a movie where you accept the plot as it is.

Perceiving your response to the brain’s script as ‘I know what it is,’ you do not feel entertained but frustrated because, as in a film, it moves on in the way the director wants. To disguise you have no say in this, you rearrange the comments popping up inside you about your impressions of the script, so they appear to confirm the perception ‘I know what it is.’ In return, this perception seems to establish your corrections as factual and you, therefore, to be in charge.

If the script is perceived as ‘dunno what it is,’ you do not care about establishing something because you are in the bliss of nothing. It is a bit like watching a movie where you do not get the plot. Therefore, as the way it moves forward does not seem to add up to something, you are not troubled by anything and, therefore, on the path of the least resistance. Actually, there is so little resistance that after 20 minutes, 45 at the most, you do not experience something at all. Consequently, there is nothing to hide there never was or will be anything but that which cannot be experienced, namely the formlessness of oneness.

Since this is the end of the illusion that someone is experiencing something, you should not maintain the perception of ‘dunno what it is’ too long at a time if you again want to experience being someone. In that case, you better cycle between ‘dunno what it is’ and ‘it is what it is.’ This is a shift between being nobody in the bliss of nothing and somebody in the twofoldness of something. In conclusion, the perception ‘it is what it is’ rules out egoistic behaviour and ‘I know what it is’ endorses it. Yet most people prefer the latter because it makes them feel in control, contrary to the former. However, since it requires much self-discipline to maintain the claim ‘I know what it is,’ they feel imprisoned. Although feeling constrained goes away the moment the perception is replaced with ‘it is what it is,’ hardly anybody wants this change because it puts an end to their sense of being in charge. Hence they stick to ‘I know what it is’ by never being in the present moment but dreaming up the next one, so it seems to support ‘I know what it is.’

If every comment popping up inside of you about your impression of this photo is perceived as ‘it is what it is,’ nothing has been added or subtracted from the experience of the image. Thus you are in sync with the experience created by the brain, which, therefore, rewards you with injections of happiness. But you are not in sync with the brain’s script if you rearrange the comments popping up about the photo, so they seem to prove a point of yours and thus the perception ‘I know what it is.’ Hence there is no reward or a feeling of connection, wherefore you feel something is missing. Nor are you in sync with the script when your perception is ‘dunno what it is.’ In this case, however, you do not need the happiness from the brain because you are in the bliss of nothing. Despite the perception’ dunno what it is’ rules out the brain, which many claim they want, very few choose it. This is probably because, without the brain’s support, there is no self. After all, it is a creation of the brain. So out of fear for not being someone, almost everybody continues their ambivalent relationship with the brain instead of choosing the perception’ dunno what it is.’ Hence they pass up the bliss of nothing in which there is a keyhole of nothing through which you see glimpses the enlightenment of that which is one.

No matter what perception we select, the brain’s script goes on as scheduled. This does not mean you are bound to go a specific way. You are free to choose a direction. But no matter what you decide, the subsequent events are already arranged by the brain. Just like you cannot do anything in a video game that is not part of the script. When you do not share experiences of love or anything else with someone perceived to be different from you, separation gets undone.

But as mentioned above, the script does not go on if you stick to the perception’ dunno what it is’ for more than 20 minutes, 45 at the most. When you do not have a conscious experience of an ongoing conversation in your head between someone perceived to be you and someone interpreted not to be you, separation is not confirmed. Thus the brain cannot go on with its fantasy of a world where there seems to be more than one. Hence the brain falls into a coma.

PART 2:
The perception’ dunno what it is’ lies down all the tensions you have made in the body to prevent it from communicating with the brain, so you can be the manager of the body and in an imperialistic way make it a serve your perception, ‘I know what it is.’. In other words, as soon as your perception changes to ‘dunno what it is,’ tensions are relieved, and you, therefore, are prevented from blocking the natural flow of info between the body and the brain. Consequently, the body can get the information it needs from the brain to heal itself. Read more about that in hack #4.4 The toxic mix of physical and non-physical issues.

That is, of course, until you interrupt the healing process by again insisting on ‘I know what it is.’ This is not to say that you cannot help the brain in its restoration of the body. Nootropics, for example, may help kickstart the process. A healthcare professional is called for if the body suffers from zoonotic diseases like HIV, Mers and COVID 19, or other sicknesses caused by human interference with the world’s ecosystems. A healthcare professional is also helpful for more trivial problems like a broken arm or severe issues like a heart condition.

However, if you want to bid welcome the enlightenment of that which is one is (read more about that in hack #6.1 From the inward-facing senses through a black hole into that which is one), and, thus, the complete undoing of the belief in being someone at all, the condition of the body is not essential. However, it seems crucial for having a satisfactory experience of being a substantial being in a tangible world as long as you believe to be that.

Should the perception’ dunno what it is’ seems a bit too much in your daily life for the disintegration of tensions, you can, instead, use the technique described in the paragraph The taste of life in Perceiving the world as symbols of the four aspects of enlightenment – or how to have glimpses of enlightenment. In this context, there is no need to focus on the taste. Actually, you use the technique for its capability to defocus and thus to disintegrate tensions. Applied only for that, you can use it as much as you like, whenever you are not engaged in talking and eating.

Alexius started to apply the technique for The taste of life about 50 years ago with the sole purpose of doing that. Unfortunately, he cannot remember when he became aware of its side effect of defocussing and thus dissolving psychological problems projected on the body. So maybe this takes a while, or he was just not aware of it in the beginning.

Anyway, getting the tongue as close to the uvula as you can is good enough when the only purpose is to defocus. Read more about that in the paragraph The taste of life in this article.

The implementation of the technique may feel like taking tranquillisers but without any side effects and expenses. If you want, you can also use far-infrared heating pads on the tight areas. Sometimes music is helpful. In this regard, Alexius likes Hanan Townshend, but you may prefer somebody else.

Be aware, though, the release of tensions may, at first, feel like a descent into hell because, without those blockages to stop the natural flow in the body, it casts out everything you have inflicted on the body to support your self-glorifying vision mastering it. If you try to see reason, coherence, purpose or something else that makes your life seem spiritual, you will never get the relaxation and satisfaction that comes from the perception ´it is what it is.´ Instead, you get the stress and despair that derives from seeking out thoughts to confirm ´I know what it is

Even though a dream is made of nothing, it is often experienced to be something. Likewise, the world you seem to see with your eyes open. However, according to science, the universe is not created of something but nothing. This appeared to happen when an explosion, called the big bang, came out of nothing through a black hole. In other words, no matter how you interpret your experiences, they are not something, least of all spiritual because you are nothing, and spirituality is everything since it is formless and therefore endless. PART 3:
It can be pretty challenging to change one’s perception from ‘I know what it is’ to ‘it is what it is’ because the former perception is secured by massive tensions in the muscles. And although you may like to get rid of them, you hold back because the tensions block off the communication between the body and the brain, so you can take over the management of the body and force it into unnatural positions, via yoga for example, to be integrated with your ideas of spirituality.

A world of duality are just as unrealistic as a movie with superheroes. But if you go for it as it is, you feel entertained, which is all what it is about.

But that is not possible. Spirituality is non-duality, and it requires more than one to combine something. Besides, there is nothing but non-duality since it is formless and therefore endless, so the experience of being someone in a world of duality is an illusion. However, while you believe this experience is real, the body should be handled within the context of duality – just like you deal with the experience of being someone in a video game within the limits of its virtual world.

Everything in duality comes in pairs, so being in sync with duality does not mean you only have experiences of a substantial world outside of you but also abstract encounters of an inner world. See hack #6-7.3 The inward-facing senses, the enlightenment of that which is one and glimpses of it. If you do not interpret any of those experiences as visions of non-duality but deal with them within the limitations of duality as orchestrated by the brain, you are in sync with the brain.

Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings are written within the reality of duality. They do not claim to be non-dual or to know what it is, since that requires more than one. But they claim to know what is not non-duality, namely everything experienced because it takes more than one to be conscious about something.

As an appreciation for your support of duality as it is and not as you think it should be, the brain injects you with shots of happiness. Eventually, you feel so ecstatic that you perceive duality as ‘dunno what it is.’ It may happen while you walk in the city, sit on a bench in the park, watch a movie, or are about to fall asleep. You do not have to stop or do anything in particular to enter this state of not-knowing, where you are in the bliss of nothing. Read more about that here.

When you again return to the world of something, you know the experience of it is made from nothing. Thus you can turn it off like you leave a dream, namely, by recognising there is nothing in it, nor you, because you are in your bed. If you, metaphorically speaking, do not wish to realise you are in your bed and not in a dream of duality, you can have fun appearing as someone in that dream if you shift between perceiving it as ‘it is what it is’ anddunno what it is.’

Hence, as already mentioned, you go back and forth between the happiness of duality and the bliss of nothing until you remain in a state of not-knowing for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, and all experiences disappear, as you suddenly remember, you are not in the dream but in your bed.

APPENDIX:
HACK #4 When you begin to live by duality, it is going to end, uses the perceptions ‘I know what it is’ vs ‘it is what it is’ vs ‘dunno what it is.But HACK #3 Not being exclusive but inclusive is freedom from being someone definitive uses ‘it is included.’ This perception is similar to ‘it is what it is’ because it is based on the experience of duality. However, since all parts of the present moment are perceived as ‘it is included,’ their apparent differences do not seem to make a difference. Thus every moment is the perfect moment.

Since ‘dunno what it is’ ignores duality, it leads to a state of not-knowing. But ignoring duality, you do not last as someone in a world of duality for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most. So if you want to go on as if you are someone, better go with the duality flow (see hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality), which is revealed by the perception ‘it is what it is.

A perfect moment, brought about by the perception ‘it is included,’ is, like ‘it is what it is, based on the acknowledgement of duality. Hence, contrary to a state of not-knowing, it lasts as long as it takes. In other words, a perfect moment is not measured by time but by inclusiveness. This makes you feel relieved. On the other hand, you feel vitalised by the twofoldness in the duality flow. See In the duality flow, you do not feel something specific. After all, it is the duality flow.

However, if you read hack #3.1 Every moment is the perfect moment, there is nothing about the perception ‘it is included.’ Alexius did not use this approach to a perfect moment when he originally wrote about it. But he will most likely update the hack by the end of 2021.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from having read hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the brain´s script is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ your feelings are not excluded but included. This perception, therefore, is not a way to the dullness of detachment but the vitality of involvement. It is as close as one can get to the nothingness from where the brain has scripted its story of duality while still appearing to be somebody. Not as close though as the perception ´dunno what it is,´ because it exposes all experiences of something as nothing.

That is why you get the bliss of nothing from perceiving an experience as ´dunno what it is,´ whereas you get the sadness of something from ´I know what it is,´ and the happiness of duality from ´it is what it is

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The stories the special self makes up about its greatness are not always consistent. Thus it often feels disorganised and wishes to be like those it perceives as organised. On the other hand, the basic self has no need to be anything other than in sync with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain by perceiving its reaction to the flow as ´it is what it is.´

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When experiences are perceived as ´it is what it is,´ there is no need to make something go away. But when the perception is ´I know what it is,´ everything unknown must be avoided to keep the feeling on top of it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It feels like something is missing when you perceive your reaction to an experience as ´I know what it is,´ as the perception is based on excluding what you cannot explain. Instead, if an experience is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ you feel complete because this perception is all-inclusive. The perception, ´dunno what it is,´ nor exclude or include something. Thus you are in the bliss of nothing.

The basic self and the special one are bound to follow the GPS coordinates it gets from the brain without making any side trips of their own. They do not have the power to change the journey – only how to perceive it. Their perception of that, though, is very different. The basic self basically perceives everything as ´it is what it is,´ and the special one as ´I know what it is.´

That is why it is easy for the basic self to be someone and hard work for the special one. It has to make a special perception of each experience, reflecting that ´I know what it is

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Only the brain can make you feel good enough because nobody else knows what you are. To get its approval, all you need is to perceive your reaction to the experience it processes of you in a world where there seems to be more than one as ´it is what it is´. Actually, you do not even have to do that. If you do not try to interfere in the brain’s workings, it automatically makes this perception.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You feel happy when your reaction to the experience the brain makes for you is perceived as ´it is what it is´ because that reveals it is twofold, wherefore you are in sync with the brain´s script of duality.

But suppose you, in an attempt to be free and independent of the brain, make a perception of your response based upon the concepts of capitalism, socialism or spiritualism, for example. In that case, you are out of sync with the brain and thus the world because your experience of it is produced by the brain. Hence everything appears to be very complicated and not straightforward, as if your reaction is perceived as ´it is what it is

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since making a specific perception takes a long time, it can be delayed and, consequently, out of sync with the present moment. The frustration that this entails only worsens if you try to solve it by using more time to process your experience. In contrast, using the brain´s default perception, ´it is what it is,´ you are in sync with the present moment. Hence everything feels good.

For many years of Alexius´cats, called Wincent, has more or less had the same routine. Every morning, he leaves the house very early and comes back when Alexius is still in bed. First, Wincent says something. Then he lays down next to Alexius and waits for him to get out of bed and give him some food. At least that is the obvious conclusion to take based on the past because as soon as Alexius takes the first step out of bed, Wincent runs out in the kitchen where he, with big eyes, sits and waits for Alexius to give him food.

If Alexius, therefore, believes he knows what is going on, he goes from the perception of the basic self, which is ´it is what it is,´ to the perception of the special self, ´I know what it is.´ Doing that, he most likely stresses to get out of bed and feed his beloved cat, although this is not going to happen any sooner than if he as the basic self had perceived ´it is what it is´ because the brain´s script runs its course, no matter how he perceives it.

In other words, when you stick to the perception of the basic self, your life seems to be taken care of, and you can relax. But having the perception of the special self, you feel stressed because you believe you are in charge of your life.

There is a third option, to become selfless. This is brought about when you choose the perception ´dunno what it is´ because it brings you in a state of not knowing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When your reaction to something in the body is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ there is not something specific to bother or amuse you. Hence you are free to go with the flow of thoughts as it comes from the brain. In other words, you are in the happiness that comes from being synced with the brain´s script.

But when you perceive what you feel in the body as ´I know what it is,´ you are not in sync with the flow of thoughts as it goes ahead, as nothing in the brain´s script of duality is definitive. Everything comes in pairs of opposites. So being specific, you are in the misery of being someone definitive who claims to know something specific.

If how you react to something in the body is perceived as ´dunno what it is,´ you are not in the misery of being out of sync with the brain´s script because you do not know of a body that feels something. Consequently, you are in the bliss of nothing.

If what you do is not making you feel good, it does not indicate that you should do something else but be aligned with what you do. This you become if you perceive your reaction to it as ´it is what it isPhoto © Alexius Jorgensen.

The basic self does not perceive triumph and disaster to be equally entertaining. Yet, this is precisely what they are if one of them is perceived as ´ it is what it is´ because it reveals there is no triumph without disaster and vice versa.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self constructs a perception of every experience, so it does not seem to endanger its default assumption, ´I know what it is.´ Hence it can go on believing it is in control. But since that is a lie, it is bound to suffer emotionally, mentally and physically.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not try to be someone definitive in a dream but naturally, go with the flow. And if you, in retrospect, do not try to arrange your memories of a dream, so it seems coherent and meaningful, you are ready to remain in a state of constant change instead of being someone definitive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self does not assume something will go on in a specific way because every experience is perceived as ´it is what it is.´ Thus getting old and unable to do the things you were used to doing is not a loss.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When every feeling is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ no emotion needs to be escaped. Thus you are at peace.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the perception, ´it is what it is,´ arises from not focusing on something specific, the technique for the taste of life will get you there if used gently. Applied more passionately, you get the perception ´dunno what it is.´ See Perceiving the world as symbols of the four aspects of enlightenment – or how to have glimpses of enlightenment.

Nobody, nor Alexius, is solely the basic self. The special self will exploit the innocence of the basic self if it does not appear to be in the game of being special. If you perceive a movie as cheap because it uses furniture from Ikea, you are probably out of sync with the plot. Hence it does not seem entertaining, which it does when your perception is in sync with the story. This, however, does not mean you must do something about your condemnation of Ikea to get in sync with the script of the movie. All you need is to perceive your reaction to the furniture from Ikea as ´it is what it is.´ Doing that, it is revealed to be twofold, wherefore there is not a specific response to prevent you from being in sync. Hence both the script and your misperception of it seems enjoyable. Likewise, when you perceive your reaction to the brain´s manuscript as ´it is what it is

If you internally or externally had reacted to the movie as indicated by the director´s use of dramatic music, for example, you would automatically be in sync with the plot and feel entertained by it. The same applies to the brain´s script. Not perceiving your reaction to it as ´I know what it is but ´it is what it is,´ you are in sync with its ups and downs. Thus you feel them equally entertaining.

And nobody can remain in a state of not-knowing for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, at a time if they want to continue as someone substantial in a tangible world. Read more about the duration of a state of not-knowing in the article To be in sync with the natural flow of thoughts

Roughly speaking, the perception of the special self is ´I know what it is´. In contrast, the basic self sticks to the perception automatically generated by the brain, which basically says ´it is what it is.´ The non-self in a state of not-knowing simply says ´dunno what it is´ because it does not perceive the apparent differences in the experiences produced by the brain to make a difference.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the perception of your response to an experience created by the brain is ´I know what it is,´ you feel important but also exhausted because much energy is required to uphold this perception. Hence the special self always needs more power, whereas the basic self needs nothing for its perception ´it is what it is.´ So even though it is dependent on the brain, it feels free.

Science says what we seem to feel and see consist of 99.9999999 per cent empty space. And the rest, despite it also is empty space and just like a dream does not contain anything substantial, is what we perceive as elements of matter making up a tangible world.

If the basic self changes its perception to ´dunno what it is,´ no definitions hold it back from seeing, it is nothing twisted by the brain into something, wherefore it is nobody in the bliss of nothing. You can read about this state of not-knowing in the below hacks

The basic self is in sync with the brain´s script, which contains every possible experience. Hence the basic self is in the past as well as the future and everywhere else but the formlessness of oneness because it cannot be experienced.

Being everywhere but in that which is one, the basic self is nowhere. Thus all it needs to cross the apparent barrier to that which is one is not choosing to do this or anything else because only in a world where there seems to be more than one can you choose to cross something.

When everything is perceived as ´it is what it is´ you are relieved

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from having read hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

The basic self never tries to look professional, so if it appears to be that, it is how the brain´s script is compounded. On the other hand, the special self always tries to look perfect because it does not believe it is carried by the brain´s script but the rules of society, which are made to suppress natural instincts favouring a spotless appearance.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self always fears to miss events it perceives to be important because it wants to be part of something special. On the other hand, the basic self sees itself as hooked up with the brain, and since it is the maker of all experience, the basic self is part of everythings that can be experienced. Consequently, it has nothing to miss.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The approach of the basic self can be compared to buying an album from an artist and listening to all of it, whereas the special self prefers to stream the album to exclude the tracks that do not fit into its special image (read more about that here).

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

A participant in a game like Monopoly has the same goal as the special self, namely to take everything from everybody. This is not the goal of the basic self, though. It has no intention of being or having something that sets it apart from the whole.

It does not know the concept of individuality. Nor does it know that the special self thinks it is possible to do things in its own way because, just like in Monopoly, everybody, regardless of the colour of their car, has to move by the dice (read more about that here).

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Like a self-driving car, the basic self follows the instruction it receives without favouring anybody in particular. Hence it automatically does what is in the interest of everybody.

On the other hand, the special self always perceives the instructions coming from the brain so that they appear to be about how much it can get for itself for as little as possible at anybody’s expense. Should somebody be hurt by this, it blames them and states it to be fact by saying, »Look what you made me do.«

For the special self, everything is about itself, so when a relative has been injured in a traffic accident, for example, the typical response is »How could you do it to me.«

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Just like a self-driving car follows the commands of The Cloud, the self, whether basic or special, serves the brain. But unlike a self-driving car, the self has a consciousness that can choose how to perceive itself. When this perception is in sync with the brain´s script, the self automatically has an impersonal approach to everything. But when the perception of the self is centred around its own being, as if it is more important than others, it is not in sync with the script because it favours nobody in particular.

Just like nations is a mental concept, so is being Spanish, English, a human or any other being.

Inside the person you believe in being, the brain has implemented a consciousness to perceive the experiences produced by the brain as something. So if the consciousness feels controlled, it is not due to the experiences but the perception of them.

Since our experience of the world, where we appear to be somebody, is fabricated by the brain (read more about that here), we feel connected when we follow the rules of the brain and unconnected when we try to change them.

When you perceive yourself to fail, your perception is out of sync with the brain´s script, because according to that, you are good enough as you are. The perception is also out of sync if you believe it was due to strong willpower, you lost weight. The only reason you did so was that you were scripted to do it. But your interpretation of your new look is not out of sync with the brain´s script if perceived as ´it is what it is´. That reveals it is twofold thus in sync with the brain´s script of duality.

Because the special self has fabricated a story in which it is independent of the brain, it feels lost if it does not experience being connected with somebody else. Thus getting likes on Facebook is very important. But no matter how many it gets, it is never enough because its independence is based on the idea that there must be more.

According to the special self, there must be something bigger that will relieve it from its troubles because if not, everything seems hopeless. Yet hopelessness is what sets it free from the future and thus from the past and consequently from worries.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Although neither the basic or special self never causes anything, the special self fools itself into believing it is in charge by perceiving past events in such a way that it seems to have caused them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For the special self, it is always about coming back to the way it was. This is not so for the basic self. It does not know how it was. Actually, neither does the special self. It is the story it has composed about the past that it wants to manifest in the present, so it seems everything always has been like it perceives it to be.

The special self wants to compare everything new with something old so that the present seems conditioned by the past, which it has edited to look like it was caused by itself.

The special self splits up its perception of others per its concepts of right and wrong and then expects that they hide or correct what it has labelled as wrong, so it is not bothered by them.

When the perception of every moment is that ´it is what it is,´ there is no future to look forward to and, therefore, no stress. That is why the basic self feels relaxed, and the special self seems tense because it never perceives the present moment like that. Actually, it does not perceive it all. Instead, it is busy making an exciting perception of the next moment, so the future seems to be better, and the special self can look forward to something exceptional.

Extraordinary experiences, for example glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one, seem to be at a premium for the special self. Yet, it seldom experiences anything but the ordinary because to prevent its special image from cracking, it fences off unfamiliar experiences.

If something uncontrollable, like glimpses of enlightenment, should enter into the controlled world of the special self, it will ignore it, wait for it to be over, then suppress the memories of it, and resume life as it used to.

The special self is looking for something it has never felt before. At least that is what it claims, but as it constantly compares everything to the past, it will never feel something new but remain in a dream of a better future.

There are many articles in the news pointing out that hardly any part of the earth is untouched by the damaging impacts of humanity. But there are very few pointing out that hardly any part of a human is untouched by the detrimental ways physicists, psychologists and new agers label every nook and cranny of it so that most feel compelled to adjust their perception of themselves to these rigid definitions instead of the natural flow of thoughts coming from the brain.

Whether you have convinced yourself to indulge in or refrain from sex, the purpose is the same: to enhance your image of being unique.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self hates being told what to do. So if it seems avoidable, it makes up a story in which it is detached from what happens and, therefore, not taking orders but going with the flow.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When perceiving your reaction to your experience as ´it is what it is,´ you do not feel stuck. Thus there is no urge to escape or transform anything.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Perhaps one day you are so tired that by mistake, you erase your hard disk. Unfortunately, it cannot be undone, and to hide you were out of control, you make a perception of the accident, which seems to prove you are a victim of circumstances beyond your control. Therefore, you do not perceive the moment as it is but as it could be.

Though you cannot undo what you did, you can undo how you perceived your reaction to it, so you do not feel sad but happy/sad. This is accomplished by perceiving your response to the loss of data as ´it is what it is´ because that reveals sadness is complemented by happiness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Everything comes in pairs in a world of duality. That is why you cannot feel the happiness of being the basic self without feeling sad as well. But as happiness and sadness are two sides of the same coin, the basic self knows that when it feels sad, happiness is included.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As nothing ever turns out like the special self expects, it is never satisfied. But since all experiences are produced by the brain, and the perception of the basic self is in sync with them, it is equally entertained by dissatisfaction as satisfaction. Actually, you cannot feel complete without experiencing them both because everything comes in pairs in a world of duality.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Even though the ideas conceived by the special self always result in worries, the solution is not to stop them but to perceive your reaction to the anxiety as ´it is what it is.´ This perception makes your response unimportant, wherefore there is nothing to worry about.

Nor the basic or the special self is in charge of anything. The latter, however, believes it can change that by making a perception of the past as if the special self, not the brain, was in charge, or a victim of circumstances beyond its control. But no matter how you perceive the past, you have never been in control or preyed on. The brain runs the show, and, like parents look after their kids, it always protects you.

Both the negative and the positive pole in an electrical wire are important. The same applies to negative and positive thinking. Read more about that here.

Unlike parents, though, the brain does not protect you from evil because good and evil are like two sides of a coin. You cannot have one without the other. Thus apparently, evil things may happen to you. But when your reaction to them is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ it turns out two be twofold. Hence seemingly negative and positive things are equally entertaining – just like going down in a rollercoaster is as exciting as going up. Actually, you need them both to be entertained. That is why everything in the brain´s script is twofold.

If we, based on experience, expect that expiration will be followed by inhalation, we do not perceive the moment as it is but how it is supposed to be. Thus we will fight for the next breath when death sets in, while we are at peace when in the moment as it is.

In other words, appearing to be someone is easy when there are no expectations of balance, coherence, rationality, consistency or whatever concepts the special self needs to feel familiar with the next moment, and, therefore, can perceive its reaction to it as ´l know what it is´ instead of ´it is what it is

This is not to say that you cannot wish or plan for something in the future. The brain does not differentiate between past, present and future, nor reality and fantasy. Read more about that here. If you see pink – also called magenta or fuchsia – in the above image, you do not perceive the picture as it is but how it is supposed to be because pink is an extra-spectral colour that cannot be seen by the human eye.

Theoretically speaking, pink is the complementary colour to lime green, but there is a gap in the colour wheel where this colour should be. And as the special self craves order and consistency, it fixes the problem by internally imagine blending red and purple into pink each time it theoretically speaking should see that colour (read more about that in The closer you look, the less you believe what you see is real).

Since the basic self perceives everything as ´it is what it is,´ it has no personal need to meet somebody. However, just like its body must have food to survive, its psyche must participate in communication to endure.

The legs that seem to make you run in a dream are not yours because they rest in your bed. Likewise, what you appear to be in a world where there seems to be more than one is not that which is you. It rests in that which is one, and as it takes more than one to be somewhere, it is nowhere. Yet, it is also everywhere because oneness is formless and therefore endless.

Alexius is with you and everybody else no matter what and where you are experienced to be because he does not perceive himself to be different from his experiences.

Those into New Age teachings may accept that they are not their body, but never that they are not someone at all. Fortunately, such acceptance is not necessary because there is not somebody to accept it because that requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless.

To think we are here to learn something is to limit that which we are because only as somebody definitive do we seem to be able to learn something, and we are not somebody limited by time and space but the formlessness of oneness. But, luckily, there is no need to learn anything to reveal that. On the contrary, what is needed is to unlearn everything because that which we are cannot learn something since it is that which is one, and it takes more than one to learn anything.

Perception is everything when it comes to feeling happy

For the special self, happiness comes from having the best, but it comes from having a perception in sync with the brain´s script for the basic self.

Like the instructions that a self-driving car gets are based on what is in the best interest of the whole, so are all the experiences the basic and special self seem to have. Officially the special self may agree with this, but behind the scenes, it has its own selfish agenda based on the perception that it is better than others. Thus it does not get the satisfaction of feeling connected with the whole, but the dissatisfaction of being alone.

Since the special self always feel guilty for trying to get as much as possible for as little as possible at the expense of others (read more about that here), it feels off the hook when somebody else is judged for stealing and, therefore, can be used as a scapegoat.

Since the basic self does not do anything on its own, it does not do something wrong or right. On the other hand, the special self wants to do everything the right way because it believes this is the way to feel fulfilled. When that does not work out, it likes to imagine, it has done something wrong because that reinforces the perception that it is in charge of its happiness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The explanations the special self makes to prove others are wrong trap it into believing it does the right thing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self believes everything would be much better if others would listen to it and follow its lead. Yet, it seldom has a solution to the things it points out as wrong – at least not one that can be implemented. Its primary focus is to find faults in others so they can be blamed for having caused its negative feelings, which, therefore, are disassociated from the special self, so it appears to be positive.

Since blaming others makes the special feel guilty, it is relieved when somebody else is convicted for a crime as that makes it look like the guilty one has been found. Thus it does not need to fear being punished for making others wrong to make itself look right.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

For the basic self, satisfaction comes from having a perception in sync with the brain´s script of duality. But the special self does not like duality because it wants to be singular and not dual. As that makes it feel alone, it spends much time adjusting its perception of itself, but on its own terms, so it remains feeling separated and abandoned.

Instead of exploring the unknown, those starting a new diet often turn it into something that has a familiar taste. The same usually applies to those starting on a new spiritual path. They are afraid of the unknown, so they twist the new way into something they know.

But since spirituality is that which is one and it takes more than one to define something, something that can be known is not spiritual. In other words, you are fooling yourself if you believe to know anything at all about spirituality because only that which is not spiritual can be known.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The experience of being a self inside a body in a world defined by time and space is fabricated by the brain (read more about that here) to make the self feel entertained when it is perceived as ´it is what it is´ and not as it ought to be.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the special self always feels something is missing in the present moment, it looks forward to finding it afterwards.

The basic self does not get afterwards, neither before. Not because it lives in the now. It does not get that either. All it has is the flow of thoughts that come from the brain. It always results in happiness, so it never feels anything is missing.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Being the basic self does not mean that you love yourself and everybody else. There is also hatred because everything in a world of duality comes in pairs. However, when hate is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ you feel happy. And then again, you cannot be happy without being sad. But since ´it is what it is,´ this is not a problem. Being in sync with the stream of thoughts as it comes from the brain, the exchange of happiness and sadness is like going up and down a rollercoaster. Hence feeling sad is as entertaining as feeling happy.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The sole purpose of the thoughts streaming from the brain to the basic self is to make it feel entertained. And as the stream is full of natural pauses, the basic self enjoys what it is in a laid-back way. On the other hand, the special self feels frightened by the pauses. Thus it imagines they are full of pure love. But since it never finds anything special in the breaks, it concludes there is something hidden.

This conclusion, however, is out of sync with the brain´s script. Like in a motion picture, it is all about exposing something, so you forget it is an illusion. Hence the purpose of the breaks is to make you feel relaxed before you go on to the next scene. But to make it appear as if there is something hidden in the gaps of thoughts coming from the brain, the special self engages itself in dialogues with others about this ´mystery.´ (read more about that here).

None of these conversations, which often are internal and starts off with what if …, solves the sense of something is missing, nor does actual discussions with somebody because nothing lives up to the special self´s expectation of reality. It is as unrealistic as the belief that we are free to arrange our life in our own way because what we believe in being is a fantasy that the brain has conceived from nothing.

To make long short, no matter what we believe to be, it is an illusion because reality is that which is one, and it takes more than one to be anything.

Having grievances, you are not necessarily out of sync with the brain´s script. But if you justify your feeling of being unfairly treated with selected fragments of the script, you do not perceive your grievance as ´it is what it is´ but as something that emphasises you are special. Hence you do not get the satisfaction that comes from being in sync with the script. The same applies to the justification of any other feeling.

In other words, if you feel love and justify it with your spouse, love seems to be shaped, so instead of feeling free in the ever-changing flow of the brain´s script, you feel imprisoned by your perception.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

To be rewarded with the happiness that you are entitled to when having a perception in sync with the brain´s script is not a matter of agreeing with it but relating to it. You can, therefore, perceive the brain´s script to be outright insane, and the brain will still reward you with happiness because all it wants is to communicate with you.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you binge-watch your favourite TV show, you end up so blown out that there are no perceptions left but those in sync with the show’s script – just like when the basic self happily participates in each episode of the adventure produced by the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If the brain´s script is set up for you to repeatedly drop something on the floor, you may perceive yourself to be clumsy or not grounded.

This perception, however, is not in alignment with the brain´s script but concepts of society and/or New Age philosophy. In the brain´s script, dropping something is entertaining. If that is not how you feel, you correct it by perceiving it ´it is what it is.´ That reveals your feeling is twofold and therefore in sync with the brain´s script of duality. Thus you do not feel sad about dropping something, but happy/sad. And that is entertaining.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Speaking of being grounded, the basic self always experiences the thrill of being entrenched on the Earth while travelling around the sun at 67.000 miles an hour (read more about that here). However, this is just a philosophical idea for the special self. It cannot feel this speed because it perceives itself as solid as rock.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Do not expect the basic self to have a merry-go-round life in the sense that all events are pleasant. If they were, you could not see that happiness does not come from a special set-up but from having a perception in sync with the brain´s script.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self is always worried about the future, whereas the basic self lives in joyful ignorance of time.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is much cheaper to be the basic self than the revised and more special version because the basic self does not have to buy something extraordinary to feel special.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

No matter if the self is perceived to be basic or special, it is a construction of thoughts compiled by the brain in such a way that the nothingness of the self seems to be something when it reacts to another construction of nothing, namely the world that appears to be outside of it. But It is like when you experience having an orgasm in a dream and conclude it must have been caused by the dream, although there is nothing in it.

This is not to say that the experience of nothing as something should be escaped. On the contrary, that would confirm it is something. But if your reaction to something is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ your response is not definitive. Therefore, since it will not confirm something has caused it, like watching a movie, you can enjoy seeing nothing as if it is something.

Being in sync with the brain´s script or not

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from having read hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

The self, the consciousness, the brain and that which is one

The brain cannot force the consciousness it has implemented into the self that it created to acknowledge the experiences it continuously fabricates of a tangible world. But if the self does not endorse them, there is not something to confirm its existence as someone substantial in a tangible world (read more about that here).

In other words, when being someone substantial in a tangible world does not seem appealing, one should ignore the stream of thoughts the brain makes to simulate the existence of such a world. Nor should one try to stop or change it, but to sense the nothingness the brain has twisted into this stream of something.

However, this is not possible while experiencing being in a world of something. But as the experience of something takes the brain one second to make (read more about that here), you can sense the unprocessed version of any experience of something at the beginning of that second (read more about that here), and thus remain in the bliss of not-knowing (read more about that here) what and where the brain makes you experience to be one second later.

You cannot continue in a state of not-knowing for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most,* if you want to return to the consciousness of being someone. The brain falls into a coma in the absence of continuous response to its experiences, so you disappear in the nothingness from where you were conceived. Thus there is nobody to perceive that nothing is something anymore.

In the latter case, you see, hear, feel and taste glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one until there is no perception of time and space and, thus, no glimpses but one light, or one sound, feeling or taste. You will not know this because it takes more than than one to be aware of something. For the same reason, there is nobody to know that a world defined by time and space is gone and never was there. Nor that the nothingness of you gracefully falls through a boundless black hole until there is no hole or anything else appearing to hide that which always has been and always will be, namely the formlessness of oneness.

The above explanation should not be taken too literally, as doing so, you remain in the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is one. Having this belief undone only requires you to admit that you do not have the willingness for this. By doing so, you acknowledge that being and having more than that which is one is make-believe. Thus you have set off on the journey without distance to that which is one.

To make long short, the enlightenment of that which is one abruptly terminates all experiences and thus the one believing to have them. Applying any other duality hack, this is a process over time where you enjoy believing your experiences are real while having that belief undone. The hack you are reading, HACK #4 When you begin to live by duality, it is going to end, is excellent for this. So we go on with this hack.

The fear of being nobody makes you dependent on the brain

Although the basic self feels free to follow the brain and the special self feels free from it, none is free. All experiences are processed by the brain, also those believed to come from the heart, higher consciousness or whatnot. Consequently, without the brain, it is not possible to experience ourselves as somebody.

So no matter what kind of self we are, we need the brain to shape us as somebody. The special self denies this and always oppose the brain. But what you fight, you are based on. On the other hand, the basic self does not hide its dependency on the brain but proudly follows it. And just like a magician’s tricks are laid bare, the more you watch them, the experiences of the brain are exposed as nothing, the more you follow them.

Hence the basic self sooner or later realises that being someone is make-believe. And so is this realisation, as there is nobody to be aware of anything. That is why, eventually, there does not appear to be something to hide there never was or will be anything but that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless.

Relating to the brain´s script

The special self is so removed from its basic nature that it thinks it needs to be grounded or transformed (read more about being grounded here). On the other hand, the basic self has no such needs. It reacts to the thoughts of the brain as they are and not as it reckons they should be. Therefore, as the basic self always is in sync with the present experience processed by the brain, it feels complete.

However, since the special self does not react to the present experience as it is but how it expected it to be, it is never in sync with the present. It blames the brain for this inconsistency and tries to exclude what it perceives to come from the brain and only include what it judges to come from the heart. But all experiences are processed by the brain, and it is impossible to eliminate any part, except in one´s perception of them.

Practically speaking you are always in sync with the brain. You cannot choose not to follow its script. But you can choose to think you know a better way. However, this does not change anything other than you you do not feel satisfied but confused because the script goes on as programmed by the brain.

In other words, being in sync with the brain´s script of duality is not a matter of waiting for things to happen according to the manuscript. They always do. It is simply a matter of perceiving your reaction to the script as ´it is what it is.´ By doing so, you see your response is not singular but twofold. Thus you are in sync with the script of duality.

Being in sync with the brain´s script or not

If you perceive the sun to go up and down, your perception is out of sync with the brain´s script because the sun is not going up and down. Instead, it is what and where you believe in being that is going up and down. See also The sun never goes up and down – it is a deception.

If your perception is in sync with the speed of the Earth and thus of you moving along with its extreme speed, you feel calm inside while racing outside.

Therefore, your perception is not coordinated with what is going on, namely that your feet are spinning at around 1.000 miles an hour, while the entire planet is hurtling around the sun at 67.000 miles an hour. Hence you will not feel the thrill of moving at such a high rate but the depression from a static perception founded on suppressed thoughts.

This stagnant perception, which is the one society supports, is meant to make you think that fulfilment does not come from not resonating with the present movement as it is but with a slowed-down version of it that gives you time to process your reaction and make a perception of it where you look powerful, humble, balanced, active or whatever you reckon will make appear more impressive.

Feeling the pulsation of the moment, however, there is no time to make up a perception where you seem to be important, nor is there any need to do that because the body shivers with ecstasy as if it is has been shaken by an earthquake of tenderness.

In the case of Alexius, he sometimes feels that this is like listening to the Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk. He plays extremely rapid, intricate patterns of notes, which produce overtones so trance-inducing that a cascade sound of purity makes you forget, it is ignited by the speed and complexity underneath it. There is no right way to perceive the complexity of the present moment. But as long as the perception relates to it and not an edited and simplified version of it, every perception will make you feel good. So good, indeed, that the inherent speed of it may bring about glimpses of enlightenment (read about glimpses of enlightenment here). The special self may claim that it wants this, but that is a lie. It fears speed because it needs time to shape its appearance, so it seems to be in control. That is why it meditates or something else it believes will slow down things.

Perceiving your reaction to the brain´s script of duality as ´it is what it is,´ your response is revealed to be twofold. Therefore, since you in sync with duality, you feel entertained. To appear as if you are in a world of something but not of it and thus in the bliss of nothing, you can neither be in or out of sync with the brain´s script because both ways ratify that you are in its world of something as well as of it. So unlike the basic self who basically says ´It is what it is´ and the special self who says ´I know what it is,´ you say ´Dunno what it is.´

When saying so, you do not ratify the world of the brain as something. Thus you move back the one second in linear time, it has taken the brain to twist nothing into the present experience of something (read more about that here). In this perceived gap between nothing and oneness, you are not aware of being someone in a world of something, so even though you still appear to be there, you do not perceive yourself to be anybody in a world of something. Therefore, as you are in the bliss of nothing, there is no reason to look for the happiness of something (read more about that here).

What is the difference between the basic and special self?

Think about the remote control for a television. It has buttons assigned with specific channels. But it is beyond your control what the channels show. Thus the remote control does not establish you as unique unless you imagine the buttons obey you and turn on something that enhances your significance.

So, as you can see, to be the special self is not about what you do, but the thoughts concerning it. Especially thoughts about control – like when you assume you master the remote control, your coffee, children or pets. Or if you have a boss and seem to be on top of that by thinking, you could do it much better – or administering others by judging or blaming them.

Being a basic self is all about serving the brain, and since you are made by it to do that, you feel fulfilled.

What and where you believe to be is the brain

What and where we experience in being consist of nothing but mechanical parts arranged, like ones and zeros in a stream of binary code, to move in alignment with the instructions it gets from the brain based on the signals it claims to receive from the sensors of the body. The brain´s script is a collection of experiences it has made from nothing, so they seem to be something when believed to be experienced by someone that the brain also has created from nothing. In other words, what you believe to experience seems to confirm there is a tangible world outside of you, and you, therefore, are a substantial being in it.

Although a movie with superheroes is unrealistic, it is enjoyable when you accept its premise. So is the experience coming from the brain of being in a world where there seems to be more than one, even though there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless.

This is very entertaining when the script is perceived as it is and not as it could be – just like it is amusing to watch a movie when the plot is accepted and very frustrating if you expect it to be in line with spiritual ideas, for example, because then everything seems wrong. Read more about that here.

In other words, you feel fine when you choose to perceive the experiences coming from the brain for what they are instead of what they could be. When you do that, you do not have to meditate or something else that makes you think you can change what comes from the brain into something you deem as better.

Trying to figure out whether your perception is in sync with the brain´s script or not, it is out of sync. Because if it is in sync with the manuscript, you do not try to figure out something but trust the brain to do it. No worries, being out of sync is easily corrected. If you choose to perceive your reaction to reading this as ´it is what it is´, you are in sync. You could also decide not to choose to perceive your response, as, without your interference, the brain automatically makes a perception in sync with its script.

To clarify the above. You are not in charge of the script, so you cannot change what and where you appear to be. This does not mean that you cannot choose between going right or left, for example, but that the following thoughts, feelings, and experiences play out as scripted by the brain. Just like in a video game, you can only move within the limitations of the script. So if your movements seem to cause a transformation, it is as illusionary as anything else in the game.

Should the thoughts that come from the brain seem to upset you, it is not because of them but the way you perceive them.

But also, like in a video game, you are free to perceive the brain´s script as you fancy. However, the brain has already made the thoughts for this. Metaphorically speaking, it has placed them in a pool from where you can select those that suit your choice of perception. That is if you make a perception in sync with the brain´s script because, in this pool, there are not enough thoughts to create a story where you, and not the brain, is in charge. Hence you need more thoughts if you want to compose such a story. But this is easily accomplished. When you try to control thoughts, they multiply to escape your domination. Even though the making of a perception in which you are in charge is accompanied by chaotic thoughts, you do not want to change the perception to one in sync with the brain´s script because then you cannot uphold the image of being unique. Instead, you try to eliminate the clutter of thoughts that disturbs this image by meditating. But, again, like in a video game, troubles are not solved by meditation or detachment but by participating in the plot as it is. You know you do that when feeling entertained because that is the sole purpose of the brain´s script.

It does not matter if you perceive the brain´s script in a negative or positive way, or if it seems to make you feel stressed or relaxed, talkative or silent, at peace or war and whatnot.

As long as you relate to the script as it is and not as you think it should be, a relation between you and the brain is established. And since it confirms the foundation of the script, namely that there is more than that which is one, the brain is grateful. Hence it rewards you with shots of happiness. Read more about that here.

All Alexius´ Duality Hacks help you feeling entertained.* In other words, they turn the suffering that believing to be someone in a capsule of time and space entails into an adventure of pleasure. Eventually, you feel so entertained that there is no more to ask for and thus not something appearing to hide there is no more than that which is one.

That said, the transient from having a perception out of sync with the brain to one that is in sync may seem unpleasant because your former special relationships hooked up with special perceptions do not seem appealing anymore.

But if you do not try to edit the feelings that bother you, their uncontrolled energy ignites a take-off into the empty breath. It resides in the nothingness from where the brain renders a world of something. But since the empty breath is unprocessed by the brain, it does not see the experiences of nothing as something.

Thus your slate is wiped clean when you return to the consciousness of being someone in the experiences of a tangible world made by the brain that you automatically. But since what and where you believe in being is the sum of your memories, and they are stored in the brain, it is what and where you are. Hence serving it is to serve yourself.

We are not talking about serving that which is you. It cannot be served because it is that which is one, and it takes more than one serve. And since it also takes more than one to be someone, what you believe in being is nothing. But fortunately, Alexius´ Duality Hacks make it, so fun to believe nothing is something that you end up having nothing to ask for. Hence there is nothing to uphold the belief in something, thus nothing to hide the formlessness of that which is you.

APPENDIX about the perception of nothing as something
Like anything else that can be experienced, Alexius´ Duality Hacks are, of course, an illusion. They do not try to hide that but expose the fallacy of everything experienced, so what you believe to experience does not appear to hide what cannot be experienced, namely that which is one.

Therefore, do not apply Alexius´ Duality Hacks if you want to uphold the belief that you are someone, because they will make you laugh at this idea as it requires more than one to be someone, and there never was or will be more that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless.

Do not apply them either if you want to return to the formlessness of oneness because that implies you have left it. That is not possible because it requires more than one. Instead, apply them if you believe it is possible to be and have more than that which is one. This will not make you see oneness, as seeing is make-believe. But you, eventually, stop seeing anything at all. Hence there is not something that appears to hide there never was or will be more than that which is one.

How long time this takes does not matter. Time is an illusion. Still, the more the illusionary process of undoing the belief in more than one progresses, the less there seems to be to hide you are nothing that appears to be something. Hence you can relax and have fun believing to see something while the belief that it is real gets undone.

The experience of something, whether material, immaterial or spiritual, is an illusion, and so is the one believing to experiencing something because there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless, and it takes more than one to be aware of anything. Hack #4.2 The brain´s script and how to perceive it to feel happy is not about transforming yourself or realising the real you, but that what you believe in being or to become is an illusion, as it requires more than one to be someone and there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless. Acknowledging this, it is fun pretending to be a basic self but not a special one. This is what this hack explores.

A video game player has no power to change what and where it appears to be in the game. No matter what the player chooses to do, the subsequent events are prearranged by the game’s creator. Likewise, when you appear to be someone substantial in a world defined by time and space.

Every experience of it unfurls according to the script made by its creator, namely the brain. But unlike the player of a video game, the one experiencing to be someone in a world defined by time and space is not outside of it. What and where you experience being is in the brain and entirely managed by it. In other words, you only exist as a fantasy in the brain.* And the brain only seems to exist because you verify it as real, so you seem to be someone substantial in a tangible world outside the brain.

The brain has programmed the consciousness it has built into you to automatically construct a perception from the pool of thoughts it created for this, so its fantasy world made from nothing is established as something. But if the consciousness goes rogue and want to establish something else, for example a spiritual world, it must seek out those thoughts in the flow of the pool, that can be used for a perception which which differs from the one the brain wants.

However, separating thoughts from others have the same effect as splitting a neutron from an atom nucleus. It sends out more all by itself, that split and sends out more and so on. Thus the price of seeking out specific thoughts for a perception where you seem to be in control is a mess of thoughts that seems to fight each other. This is why behind the confident face of those claiming to be independent, there is much fear.

If the brain´s default perception  is not overridden by one that seems to establish you as the master of the brain, you remain its happy servant, wherefore there is nothing to fear. Being in sync with the brain is like navigating a well-designed website. There is no doubt where to click.

That is why the brain, besides the unchangeable construction of thoughts that make up the script of you as someone in a world defined by time and space, has made a pool with streams of thoughts you can use to perceive your reaction to you the experiences created by the brain. Responding to the experiences of a world defined by time and space confirms it is tangible, and the perception of your reaction confirms you are a substantial being in that world. Thus the brain´s fantasy of you as someone living in a capsule of time and space seems to be real and, therefore, also the maker of it.

In other words, if you do not perceive your response to the experiences as something, what you appear to be is exposed as a fantasy created by the brain from nothing. Hence there does not appear someone to hide, there is no more than the formlessness of oneness. But if you make a perception that substantiates the experiences coming from the brain, it feels like you are someone substantial in a tangible world.

Actually, to feel this, you do not even have to make a perception yourself. The brain has programmed the consciousness it has built into you to automatically construct a perception from the pool of thoughts it created for this so that its fantasy made from nothing is established as something.

The collection of these thoughts into a perception that ratifies the brain’s world as something outside of the brain sounds like insignificant jabber going on in the background. It can be compared to the sound that comes from the engine of a car, you keep running while taking a break. You hardly notice it.

But the sound of the thoughts is not insignificant jabber in the background when you stop the automatic perception of your response to the experiences made by the brain and invent one yourself in which you and not the brain are in control.

In that case, you must always be aware of the thoughts made available by the brain for making a perception of its experiences because you must stop them from automatically making a perception in sync with them so that you can uphold a perception yourself in sync with the story you have made to replace the one delivered by the brain.

To establish your story as the truth, you maintain an internal conversation with somebody perceived to be in it. This, however, makes you confused because your story does not correspond with experiences created by the brain, and they are the ones in effect. But instead of correcting your story, you seek out more thoughts to prove it is true. And since that speeds them up, you feel stressed from the noise of their acceleration.

No worries. If you do not try to solve this in a way perceived to be your own but simply say, ´it is what it is,´ the sound of thoughts become insignificant jabber in the background. Hence they do not disturb the satisfaction arising from the perception ´it is what it is

You can also take it one step further and say ´dunno what it is´ (see ´I know what it is´ versus ´It is what it is´ versus ´Dunno what it is´) and thus enter a state of not-knowing and its bliss of emptiness. You also join this state if you do not do anything because the energy of unedited stress automatically ignites a take-off into the empty breath. From this, you cannot conclude you are out of sync with the brain if you feel confused and stressed because this may also happen when you are in sync. However, the difference is that when in sync with the brain, all feelings are experienced twofold. Thus you are happy/sad, for example, which feels amusing. But when out of sync, these opposing feeling seems divided. Hence you perceive yourself to be either happy or sad, which does not feel amusing but depressing.

But what you can conclude from the above is that when one´s perception is in sync with the brain, it feels entertaining to appear as someone in a world defined by time and space. And it does not require any effort to make this perception because it happens all by itself when you do not seek out particular thoughts to build a perception where you, not the brain, seems to be in charge.

The latter calls for more thoughts than in the pool of thoughts, the brain has made for this. But by concentrating on specific thoughts, they seem to multiply, so there appears to be more than enough to construct your special perception. However, the speedy and chaotic behaviour of the leftover thoughts disturbs the communication between the brain and the body, so it always seems to lack energy. Hence everything is experienced as burdensome. Read more about that in hack #4.3 The toxic mix of physical and non-physical issues.

Meditation does not fix this. Its purpose is also to generate thoughts for special concepts, such as inner peace or higher consciousness (read more about the false promises of meditation here). Nor will it help if you give up or let go of your special perceptions because that enhances the perception of being in charge. The only thing that will help is not to override the brain’s default perception, namely ´it is what it is

APPENDIX:
In that which is one, there is neither something nor nothing because it requires more than one for anything to be there. For the same reason, what you believe in being is neither there nor anywhere else. This is not explainable in a world where there seems to be more than one, nor is it in that which is one, since it takes more than one to explain something.

This article, therefore, does not claim to explain anything. Nor does it point to oneness since that takes more than one. Instead, it points to the illusion of experiencing anything, including this article, so you are not tempted to perceive nothing as something. All Alexius´ Duality Hacks facilitate this, and they automatically apply themselves when you read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teaching not to learn but unlearn everything.

To be in sync with the natural flow of thoughts [draft]

Just like a self-driving car needs instructions from The Cloud to drive, a human entirely relies on the brain. Not only does every impulse come from there. All experiences are fabricated there, regardless they seem to be yours or others, physical or spiritual. So unless you perceive yourself to be independent of the brain, you are automatically connected with everything in the world you experience. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from having read hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

PART 1:
The thoughts that the basic self receives from the brain are tailored to its specific personality. And since Alexius is a storeroom manager with an academic mind (read more about that here), a shopping list, for example, is naturally compiled when thoughts pop up about his supply of food.

Likewise, ideas of what to choose automatically present themselves when he is scripted to have ice cream. Read more about that here. If the suggestions are deemed inappropriate per common health ideas, he may feel guilty about choosing one. But if he only relates to his passion for the flavour and not to a mental fitness concept, he feels delighted.

There is nothing magic about following the GPS instructions when driving your car, nor about following the instructions of the brain when moving your body. It is as easy as pie when your perception is in sync with the thoughts coming from the brain.

To make long short, when his perception is out of sync with the brain´s script, he does not feel joy but guilt. And when it is in sync, he feels happy no matter what he gets because happiness comes from having a perception in sync with the brain.

When one perceives itself to be a victim of circumstances, one is out of sync with the brain´s script, because it has neither victims or culprits. Fortunately, all what is needed to correct this mispercetion is to change it to ´it is what it is

Alexius has lost several businesses, girlfriends and whatnot. As the subsequent sadness was perceived as ´it is what it is,´ he did not say no but yes to the script. Thus the brain rewarded him with shots of happiness for being sad. This photo is shot not that long ago after Alexius lost four businesses, his wife and a house at the beach. After that, he lived with a new girlfriend in a very little room he borrowed from a friend. Soon he lost that too, but since ´it was what it was,´ feelings of loss did not get sticky. A long time before writing Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings, Alexius seemed scripted to go bankrupt with the four businesses he had for 12 years. And so he did without perceiving it as unjust but as ´it is what it is.´ Since his perception, therefore, was in sync with the brain´s script, going down felt as entertaining as when he was going up – like in a rollercoaster (read more about that here). 

On the other hand, had he tried to be detached from going down, he would have been out of sync with the brain´s script. It only causes one thing: happiness, which you get regardless of what and where you appear to be when your response to the script is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ because this perception is not singular but twofold. Thus it is in sync with the brain´s script of duality.

Believing to be somebody, you can either be the basic or special self. If the brain´s script is perceived as it is, you are the basic self. But if the perception rest on how the script could be, you appear to have changed it and thus to in control as the special self.

It is not a matter of agreeing with the script but accepting that it cannot be changed. That is why your response to it is perceived as ´it is what it is.´ This does not mean you cannot choose between going right or left, for example, but the following steps are scripted by the brain – just like an aeroplane on its way to Spain continues as scheduled whether you change your seat.

So not hiding the script behind a perception that does not relate to it as it is but how it could be, you are in sync with the brain´s story of duality. Therefore, as all your feelings are twofold, you are never specifically happy or sad. Instead, you feel happy/sad.

But suppose the consciousness that the brain has built into the self goes rogue and insist on being only happy. In that case, it tries to manifest it by making a perception of the script where happiness comes from socialism, liberalism, communism, humanism or another ism that exclude sadness. But since this perception is out of sync with the script, no matter how beautiful a picture it paints of a merry-go-around world, it does not result in satisfaction (read more about that here).

It requires no effort for the basic self to be happy, whereas it takes much work for the special self just to have a taste of it.

That is why those clinging onto specific perceptions always look for something specific to make them satisfied. Happiness, however, does not come from something definitive but the perception ´it is what is.´ This reveals that the feelings perceived as specific are twofold. Therefore, because you are in sync with the brain´s script of duality, you feel fulfilled.

Since almost everyone has chosen a special perception of themselves in which they are in charge of their life, the whole way of perceiving the world is adjusted to doing everything in one´s own way for the sake of oneself and those judged as like-minded. This may be a small group of people worshipping a guru who promises happiness will come from following his/her teachings. But it can also be a big group, such as a country, where you feel together by following the national concepts.

But no matter the size of the group and what seems to keep it together, it is bound to be divided into several smaller groups because to keep up the image of being special, you must exclude somebody. Should you forget to be exclusive, you are not a special but basic self, which the group immediately reacts upon by threatening you with exclusion unless you revert to the agreed concepts of the group and exclude what it decides is wrong.

Although the basic self has no need to be part of any group, it has to show off as if it wants to communicate with the world because knowing the right people is what counts. Fortunately, such adjustment is easy for the basic self. It is happily serving the brain, so its personality is not definitive but relative and, therefore, without egoistic goals. Read more about that here.

This does not mean the basic self is enlightened. On the contrary, no kind of self-awareness survives the enlightenment of that which is one (read more about that here). But it means the basic self is closer than the special one to the nothingness from where the brain has conceived it. Hence it is easy to change the perception from ´it is what it is´ to ´dunno what it is´ and thus be in the bliss of not-knowing. Read more about that here.

If you perceive something happened because of what you and others did or not did, or it was your karma, your perception is out of sync with the brain´s script, because all experiences, regardless they appear to be physical or immaterial, are caused by the brain.

If you perceive the stream of thoughts coming from the brain as something different from you, it does not result in happiness. Hence you have to find it where it is not, namely in the right kind of coffee, religion or whatnot. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

PART 2:
Having a perception in sync with the brain´s script cannot be compared to steering clear of the rain when in sync with the weather forecast. Because if you are scripted to not wet, this is how it plays out regardless of being in sync with the brain´s script

Your perception is in sync with the brain´s script when you do not feel something specific.

And if you are scripted to jog every second day, you cannot run every day no matter how hard you push yourself – just like a movie remains the same regardless of how you want it to be. When your reaction to this is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ you are in sync with the movie’s script. Likewise, you are in sync with the brain´s script when your response to it is perceived as ´it is what it is´ and not how it ought to be. Doing that everything feels good enough as it is, whereas perceived regarding how it ought to be, nothing feels good enough as it is.

Pinching yourself in the arm, the brain registers a physical feeling. Hence you conclude, you are alive. But since the experience of a physical sensation is created by the brain, this conclusion does not prove you exist as someone substantial in a tangible world outside the brain – just like you are not in the dreams composed by the brain.

To be in sync with the brain´s script does not mean you live in the now because the brain has used one second to manufacture the experience you believe in having right now. Hence you have to go back one second in time to be in the now. But one second ago, nothing happened because every experience produced by the brain is made from nothing. However, the brain claims it renders them from the info coming from your sensory system. Although you only have the brains word for that, you choose to believe it is a fact, as otherwise you are exposed to be a fantasy of the brain.

Practically speaking, the music you hear via AirPlay, for example, travels in the air for more than a second to reach your speaker. Therefore, to meet the origin, you must go back in time. But going back to the digital media from where the music comes from, there is nothing but ones and zeros. And they make no sounds before an app created by a specific combination of ones and zeros translates them into something your speaker can reproduce as sounds perceived as music. It is purely mechanical. There is no soul or anything mystical involved. Likewise, the experience of being someone in a world of duality.

All that is needed to feel good is that your reaction to the brain´s fantasy of a world of duality is twofold. Having a singular response, you are not participating in the fiction as it is made by the brain but how you think it should be according to a specific philosophy. And since this does not change the brain´s fantasy, like your perception of a movie does not change its course, you do not feel good enough.

PART 3:
Feeling stressed by the stream of thoughts coming from the brain and trying to slow it down by meditating does not solve the problem because the flow of thoughts only seems speedy or confusing when you perceive it to be different from you by making a perception that says you are independent of it. In other words, the solution to your discomfort is not to stop or change the flow of thoughts but to change your perception so that you do not seem to be in control of it but to be controlled by it. This is basically achieved by perceiving your reaction to the stream of thoughts as ´it is what it is

The brain can be compared to Spotify in the sense that it has many playlists to choose from. But no matter what playlist you decide to stream, it will not bring happiness unless you are in sync with it.

The happiness that comes from being in sync with the brain can be compared to the joy you feel when singing along with a song that you like. And not being in sync can be compared to feeling disturbed by the same song because you want to concentrate on something you perceive better.

You also feel disturbed if you try to go hiking when your leg is broken, whereas you feel happy if you adjust to your current situation. That being said, to be in sync with the brain´s script may at first seems frightening, but as you do not feel alone when in sync, fear does not prevent you from going on.

In that which is one, no one is at one because that calls for more than one.

Being in sync with the stream of thoughts, you are connected with the brain and all the experiences it makes. Thus the apparent difference between the experiences and the experiencer is not perceived to make a difference. However, his is not the case with the special self. It wants to stand out, so it uses the experiences to highlight itself as better than others.

To be is to be entertained

When the brain supplies you with thoughts of fury, and you give it your best shot to perceive yourself as angry, you cannot help but feel happy. The same applies to any other so-called negative feeling, as long as you do not justify it with the world. By doing that, you distance yourself from it and, therefore, also the joy of exploring it. In most cases, you do not have to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in a particular order. But in the case of this article, you may benefit from having read hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

The goal of Alexius´ Duality Hacks is not to prolong life. It is not possible. Life has no end. The purpose, therefore, is to undo the belief that you are someone with a beginning and end. Fortunately, believing to be limited is such a funny idea that you can enjoy it while in the process of having it undone.

As this belief is based on the experiences produced by the brain, it is not by opposing the brain but by supporting it that you feel good. You support the brain and its experiences by perceiving your reaction to them as ´it is what it is.´ This syncs you to the brain´s script of dualism. Therefore, as nothing is experienced, to be specific, you cannot be sad but happy/sad, which feels fulfilling.

Whether somebody wants to be transformed, live in the moment, get a new car, spouse or whatnot, they want to feel entertained. This you can always count on the brain to deliver as dreamy, physical or spiritual experiences. All you need to feel entertained is to perceive your reaction to them as ´it is what it is´ and not as ´I know what it is

Actually, the brain automatically makes the perception ´it is what it is,´ if you do not oppose it by making the perception ´I know what it is.´ In the latter case, you will not feel entertained by the experiences created by the brain because they do not live up to your expectation. But instead of acknowledging that your perception is off, you probably try to change the brain’s system of duality via meditation or something else that seems to prove you know what is best.

Maybe you are on a quest for what you imagine to be the real purpose of life. Searching for it, however, you will never find it because the only meaning of experiencing to be someone is to enjoy it as it is.

The brain is the sole director of a dream. What is believed to be you in or outside of it have no say in its course, except how to perceive it.

If this perception confirms that you are someone in the world of the dream, it feels as if it is real. But if what and where you experience being is perceived to be a dream, it is felt like a fantasy. Just like the thoughts and feelings during a movie, usually do not ratify the world in it as real because you know it is an illusion meant to entertain you.

The same applies to the experience of what and where you appear to be when you believe to be awake. Every experience is fabricated by the brain. You have no say in that except how to perceive it and, therefore, how you will feel about it.

If your perception results in feeling entertained, it is in sync with the experience produced by the brain. But if it results in feeling unjust, the perception is out of sync because no experience created by the brain is personal. Just like a self-driving car managed by The Cloud never gets a private message.

Not perceiving an experience to be personal, thoughts and feelings regarding it are momentary. Thus it is just as entertaining to experience sorrow as joy. But when an experience is perceived to be personal, thoughts and feelings regarding it keep coming. If not externally, then internally, the experience seems to drag on until you feel so depressed that you meditate or do something else to disassociate you from feeling down.

In the latter case, you are the special self, and in the former case, the basic self, which, contrary to the special one, is just one second away from the nothingness of bliss. Read more about that here.

Going back to the basic self seems to be the goal of many gurus. They seem to think it is without ego and therefore live in the now, coming from the heart and whatnot. They are right to assume that it is without ego because the basic self does not pretend to have its own thoughts. But it does not know about living in the now, coming from the heart or anywhere else but the brain. Like a self-driving car is managed by The Cloud, no matter what and where the vehicle appears to be, the basic self does not come from anywhere but the brain.

Some confuse the basic self for being enlightened, but since the experience of being someone is a fabrication of the brain and that all experiences are erased by the enlightenment of that which is one, what you believe in being cannot be enlightened. You can think so, but then you are not the basic but special self.

The special self always looks for a permanent state of mind. But that is not possible. In a world defined by time and space, everything has a beginning and an end. You cannot have one without the other.

Fortunately, the end feels just as entertaining as the beginning when your perception is in sync with the brain´s script. Hence there is no need for something to last for the basic self.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you do not want anything, in particular, you do not need to fabricate an image of yourself as someone who has something special. Thus the perception of yourself remains in sync with the brain´s manuscript for you. And since the script is made for entertaining you, you feel entertained no matter what you get.

If the special self has to wait for something, it starts to think about what it could have done to prevent that because doing so enhances its perception of control. But, on the other hand, the basic self perceives the waiting time as ´it is what it is.´ Hence it does get stressed but rest assured that the rest of the day will be as it is.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self does not need to make a perception that seems to alter or transform the brain’s script into something made by the basic self. Unlike the special self, it has no need to create, modify or change anything. Although it may feel frightful when the script takes it down, it also feels joyful because it perceives its reaction to it as ´it is what it is.´ That reveals there is no fear without joy and vice versa, as everything comes in pairs in a world of duality

Diving deep into the thrill of this, or another, polarity, it feels fulfilled. But the special self does not get the thrill of polarity because it insists on separating the pairs of duality. Thus it only feels frightened when going down. And very much, indeed, because it has no idea of how to get up again, although it is supposed to be all-seeing and knowing.

Being on your own makes you feel small, which the special self expects to fix by getting the power it imagines come from riches, going deeper or find something higher, for example.

The more the special self can convince others that it can make the world better, the more powerful it appears to be, and the less it doubts itself.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you think your car in a game like Monopoly actually can drive, your perception is out of sync with the play’s script. Consequently, the game does not seem to amuse but frustrate you. Likewise, if you believe what you appear to in a world of duality is alive.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

One thing that really contributes to the well-being of the basic self is that it perceives everything to happen by itself. Just like in a book, one is reading. Another thing that contributes is that it devotes itself to the present chapter in the book. Not in an attempt to live in the now, though, as it perceives the past and the future chapters of the book to be of equal importance for the story.

Contrary to the special self, who finds many mistakes in the book and thus feel disappointed, the basic self really enjoys it as it is. And it feels grateful that someone has taken the time to write this adventure where it can participate without worrying about the future because every part of the story has been written for its entertainment.

Being the basic self is like being in intensive care in a hospital, except that you are not sick, and still somebody is watching out for you. Actually, it is the same for the special self, but contrary to the basic one, it does not enjoy it because it perceives itself as an independent being who can take care of itself. This perception is even more illusionary than believing to be someone because, within this belief, everything experienced is a product of the brain, including the experience of being independent of it.

It is pretty entertaining to imagine something you are not. But believing the imagination is real and that you are a butterfly, the experience becomes depressing. If the egoistic purpose of the special self is exposed, it will either deny it or say it is sorry and then go on precisely as before.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Every time you get the impression, thoughts are doubting each other, you can be sure you are out of sync with the brain´s script. Not in the way you act, because you are not free to change that, but in how you perceive it.

Fortunately, this is easily corrected. Try different perceptions. The one that makes you feel entertained is in sync with the brain´s script. And as it is never too late to change your perception of the past, you can have the best childhood ever. Read more about that in hack # 1.3 You cannot change the world, but you can change your perception of it.

The basic self always perceives its reaction to an experience made by its maker, the brain, as ´it is what it is.´ Since that reveals the response to be twofold, the basic self is synced with the brain´s script of duality. Therefore, the basic self has no need for approval by others.

On the other hand, the special self needs to be in relationships where it can lay down the basic rules, namely that everything said and done by others should approve its uniqueness.

The special self creates its own reality. Factually speaking it is not different from the brains script because it cannot be changed. However, everything is assigned a special meaning. For example, somebody who dies is not seen as done for but as going on on a new journey – or that it is karma or the will of god. If someone questions these explanations, they are seen as attacking a higher truth. And if science proves this truth is wrong, the special self says their facts as a hoax. And if it has the power, it punishes them.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self basically feels wrong. That is why it hides behind an appearance of superiority. But appearing to be on top of it is hard work when you actually feel wrong. Denying that requires so much justification and/or displacement activity that you get stressed.

The straightforward solution to this is to acknowledge you are mistaken. Then you do not have to work hard to be right.

So, be grateful if you feel somebody makes you wrong because this is your chance to acknowledge that you feel like this and thus be set free from having to find mistakes in others to hide feeling mistaken yourself.

The basic self does not perceive itself as definitive but relative to the stream of thoughts coming from the brain. And since what and where it experiences to be is an embodiment of that, the basic self is as entertained from feeling wrong as right or anything else. Read more about that here.

Happiness cannot be found. It comes effortlessly all by itself [draft]

The brain has installed an awareness in the self it has created, so the self can feel entertained by having conscious experiences of itself. But if the consciousness does not accept it is a product of the brain, it composes a perception of itself as independent and part of something bigger than the brain. PART 1:
Although it is straightforward to sync with the stream of thoughts that constitute the brain´s script – especially because that happens effortlessly when you do not interfere and results in feeling entertained – most do not want to sync with the brain. They think it is stupid and want to do things at their way and pace. That is why they choose to make a perception of the brain´s script where they seem to be free of it.

To achieve this, they spent much time and energy on excluding those elements of the script that does not fit into the image they want to produce of themselves as an independent being. But their apparent independence does not result in feeling good but not good enough.

Ultimately speaking, independence is an illusion, as there is no more than that which is one. But also, in the context of a world where there seems to be more than one because the brain makes all your experiences. So just like in a dream, everything happens there.

And also, like in a dream, the thoughts the brain uses to construct the experiences of a world where there seems to be more than one are beyond the control of any other than the brain. It has, however, made a pool of thoughts from where the self, it has created to have these experiences, freely can pick the thoughts it wants for the perception of them.

Both the creator and the created, namely the brain and the self, need this to happen. The perception of the experiences seems to establish them as something and thus prevent the brain which makes them and the one believing to have them to be exposed as nothing. Regardless your perception is in sync with the brain´s script or not, you cannot plan for something to happen that is not scripted. Fortunately, you have no need to plan for anything if your perception is in sync with the script. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

There is nothing spontaneous about the basic self –  just like a violinist is in sync with the notes of the classical composition it is playing, the basic self is in sync with the brain´s script. Nor the violinist or the self has room for improvisation, nor any regret because everything is already set.

Should you wonder, if you are in sync with the brain´s libretto, you are out of sync, because you have no doubts when in sync.

PART 2:
Whether your perception is in sync with the brain´s script or not, you will follow it by the letter. You do not have to like it, though. It can be perceived in any way you fancy. However, if you want to feel connected, your perception must relate to the script as it is and not as you reckon it should be per religious, socialistic or other concepts, for example. In the latter case, your perception is out of sync, wherefore you feel disconnected.

But regardless, the perception is in sync with the experiences created by the brain, it gets what it wants, namely that its experiences created from nothing are established as something, wherefore you appear to be someone substantial in a tangible world. Since this is how the brain intends it to look, it rewards you with shots of happiness. However, if your perception is out of sync with the brain, you have to look for joy yourself. Not because the brain withhold it from you but because you reject it. You want to do everything in your way and time.

Experiencing to be someone who is doing something in a world defined by time and space, you are in the brain´s domain because that is where the experience of it is fabricated. But maintaining a perception of being in control is frustrating. For example, suppose you want to strictly follow a diet instead of the signals coming from the body. In that case, the natural sense of being hungry is judged as unnatural, so instead of going with the perception automatically generated concerning your appetite, you twist the perception into something aligned with the philosophy of your diet. Therefore, since your natural instinct is repressed, you do not get the happiness of being in sync.

The same happens if you watch a movie and expect it to fit into your ideas on spirituality and therefore avoid having a natural and effortless perception of the film but uses much effort to twist it into something that seems to confirm how stupid non-spiritual people are. But as you thereby have repressed the movie’s script, you will not enjoy it as the director intended it to be.

So why does hardly anybody want to perceive the brain´s script as it is? Generally, because they think they, not the brain, are in charge. Fortunately, you do not have to change this misunderstanding. Instead, you just choose to perceive your reaction to the present moment as ´it is what it is.´ This syncs you with the brain´s script.

Getting used to choosing this perception is only a matter of time before you do not have to choose it because you feel so entertained by the script that a perception in sync with it automatically pops up.

No matter what way you go and why you reckon to do it, you are going that way because the brain has told you to do so. Having a perception in sync with its playbook, obstacles on the way adds to the entertainment, just like they are supposed to do. But having made up a perception where you are in charge, the same obstacles will add to the stress from continually having to figure out the way. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

PART 3:
Being in sync with the brain´s script does not ensure you do the right thing. Only the special self feels so wrong that it is concerned about being and doing right. When in sync with the script, It is unnecessary to do the right thing because being wrong is just as entertaining as being right. Nor is there something to make better. The brain´s script is the only option you have if you want the experience of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

Should you not want that, all you need is to not be in sync with the script. However, not like the special self who revolts against it and thus depends on it. To be free of with script, you just ignore it, which is done by not making a perception like the special self that states ´I know what it is,´ nor like the basic self who declares ´it is what it is´ but simply say ´dunno what it is.´ Doing that, the perception does not ratify the experiences the brain produces of you as someone in a world where there seems to be more than one. Hence you are in a state of not-knowing from where you can bid welcome the enlightenment of that which is one or go back to the consciousness of being someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

In the enlightenment of that which is one, you are not someone anymore and never was since. That requires more than one, and oneness is formless, so there is no more than that which is one. But suppose you are not ready to undo the belief in being and having more than that which is one. In that case, you return to the consciousness of being someone definitive with the slate wiped clean, so you happily can go on as the basic self until you feel so joyous that you cannot ask for more. Hence the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is one is undone.

APPENDIX:
Since it is the sum of your memories that constitute what and where you believe in being, and that is stored in the brain, what and where you experience to be, regardless it seems to be material or spiritual, is in the brain. And since that has an end, so does what and where you believe in being. But since oneness is formless and therefore endless, everything limited by time and space is an illusion.

Nevertheless, it is pretty fun to play a game where it seems possible to be someone with a beginning and an end if your perception of it is in sync with how it is set up by the creator of this illusion, namely the brain.

4.2 Control is the fear of not being good enough

All the experiences believed to be yours or others are made by your brain. It stores the memories that you believe to constitute what you and others are. Therefore, the appearance of you and others as substantial beings in a tangible world is the brain and vice versa. This also applies to experiences considered spiritual. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Even though the brain deceives you by making experiences that seem to establish you as someone substantial in a tangible world, it is not your enemy. On the contrary, the brain just wants to make you happy. If that is not how you feel, you have most likely disassociated yourself from the brain´s experiences. Instead of perceiving them as they are, you perceive them as they should be per a specific religion or philosophy that you fancy.

But since everything in this perception revolves around you knowing better than the brain, and since you do not know who you are, it is hard work to make it look like you, and not the brain, knows the best. And though you claim this, you blame the brain for feeling stressed. Hence you meditate or force your body into strange positions to cut off the brain, assuming this will make you feel free from its perceived tyranny and replace frustration with fulfilment.

Metaphorically speaking you should eat all thoughts with much pleasure, because they are just as sweet as you.

However, the rejection of some or all thoughts as the root of evil does not result in completion but loss. On the other hand, should you perceive all thoughts as presents from the brain, they will not seem to cause loss, nor abundance, but the quiet happiness that comes from being blessed. The thoughts coming from the brain constitute what you appear to be and what you seem to experience because what and where you experience being is nothing but a construction of thoughts manufactured by the brain.

To sum it up, the brain renders a self in which it installs a consciousness so the self can perceive itself as a substantial being by having conscious experiences of the tangible world that the brain fabricates as if it is outside of the self. Thus, the brain is the same as what and where you experience being.

You try to restrict the only friend you have, namely the brain, by dividing the thoughts it produces into good and evil. Then you suppress the evil ones by meditating or projecting them onto others to appear as only good and thus beyond the brain´s script of duality, where everything comes in pairs. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Ultimately speaking, you are not the brain or anything else because there is no more than that which is one, and it takes more than one to be anything. Consequently, this article, just like what you appear to be, is nothing disguised as something.

Trying to change something, therefore, is like changing the colour of your hair. Though the new tone makes you look different, the original colour remains the same underneath it. Yet, more or less everybody believes that changing their look will make them able to get more money, power, love, peace, silence or whatever they think will make them special and more appreciated.

Control is the fear of not being good enough to be affirmed as someone in the world of something.

This wish to change ourselves often starts in early childhood, where we learned that when we changed our appearance into something our parents considered to be more lovable, we would get more attention and hence a feeling of being loved. Read more about that here. Consequently, most have concluded that by controlling themselves, they can manipulate others into liking them.

Several events can have led to this conclusion. Maybe your parents forced you to use the toilet before you were ready. In an attempt to please them and be the child they wanted, you decided to control your urination by tightening the muscles in the loin. However, the price of getting their ´love´ was a damaged body. The premature constriction of the muscles blocked the natural flow in the biological system, so the communication between the body and the brain was disrupted.

Therefore, as the brain could not support the body, it tried to fix the problems in its own way. The blockage in the loin, it attempted to solve by balancing it with a problem in the shoulder, neck or jaw. It is often the latter because it makes it possible to keep a specific expression in place as if you are happy with those around you.

The life of a self has been planned by the brain, and it cannot be altered. But the perception of it can be changed, so it seems to be in charge of itself. That is done by making up stories that, in retrospect, establish that everything is going according to the plan of the self. If not, the brain is blamed. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

But this further disrupted the communication between the brain and the body. And though you can diminish the problems in the upper body via massage and whatnot, the relaxation will not last because the hardened loin will soon reinforce the issues in the upper body to balance out the stiffness in the lower body.

Hence you will never feel the healing the natural flow of a biological system adequately hooked up with the brain brings about. Instead, you feel held back by something you cannot find – especially when you try to find that in the body and not in what has caused the blockage, namely the perception of yourself as inferior. In other words, if you do not manipulate others to love you by meddling with your body, the natural flow of the biological system is not disrupted by your interference. Thus the brain can use it to heal the body when there is a physical problem.

A straightforward way to correct how you feel about yourself is to perceive that as ´it is what it is.´ This reveals that you are good enough as you are. Therefore you are set free, and so are those you have deemed to imprison you. Ultimately, the solution is to undo the belief in being someone, as that means there is nobody to misinterpret anything. However, this hack is about having a good time as someone while having the belief in being that undone. So we go on with the brain´s script.

As the brain´s script is fixed, the exact same tensions in the loin would have occurred, whether or not you perceived you had to adjust to your parents to get their love in your childhood. But had you perceived yourself to be good enough as you were, your perception would have been in sync with the brain´s script, and the tension in the loin would not be a psychosomatic but a physical problem. And the latter is much easier to deal with.

The above explanation of cause and effect is not entirely correct. Nothing adds up in a world where there seems to be more than one because it is an illusion. There is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless. That is what the explanations in Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings are meant to illustrate. Hence they only work when used to expose a world where there seems to be more than one is a fantasy.

This explanation is also a fantasy, and so is the idea that somebody is making or having it – just like nobody, in particular, is causing or having a dream, and there is nothing in it. Hence Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings is not a new philosophy with the answers to the world’s problems or why and how we appear to be there as if we are separated from each other. There is no answer to that or anything else because there is no more than that which is one, and it takes more than one to explain something.

Ultimately speaking, therefore, it does not matter if you are in sync with the brain´s script and thus as happy as made to be, or perceive the script in such a way that that you appear to be more exceptional than scripted and hence a special self who independently of the script looks for its own happiness. However, as happiness comes from being in sync with the brain´s script, the special self never finds it. Read more about this in hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one.

That is why, in the context of the world where we appear to be, everything seems to be much easier when one´s perception is in sync with the brain´s script. Hardly any thoughts are needed for that, and as they compile themselves from the pool of thoughts the brain has made for this (read more about that here), there are no stray thoughts to disturb you. In contrast, it requires much effort to make a perception where you appear to be more special than the basic self, which the brain has created, requires much effort.

You must seek out special thoughts to make this happen, and by doing so, they start to scamper around and fight each other, which feels stressful – especially as it affects how you see the world. Therefore, the special self concludes, it is best to get rid of some or all of the thoughts, or at least slow them down via meditation or something else that supports the idea of being in control.

This, however, enhances the problem, which is that the special self perceives itself to be the master and the brain its servant. It is the other way around. So if the special self honours the brain for producing the experiences of being someone by perceiving them as they are and not as they could be, happiness comes all by itself. Actually, so much that the few thoughts required for having a perception in sync with the brain are unnoticed. See also Without the noise of thoughts.

Everything is always going your way. If it does not seem so, you are not going your way. Not in the sense that you are going the wrong way. That is not possible. In short, if we do not try to edit the perception the brain automatically generates of ourselves, we are in sync with it and thus rewarded with so many shots of happiness that we feel loved and love everybody as ourselves (read more about that here).

As that means you do not spend time looking for happiness, you can read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings without looking for something in them to make you happy. Hence Alexius´ Duality Hacks reveal the nothingness of what and where you believe in being while you have fun reading about them.

Many try to solve the feeling of not being good enough by finding somebody who will admire them, as they mistake that for being loved. Others may clean the house, go shopping, eat, smoke, have sex, or whatever makes them forget they do not feel wanted. However, most try to resolve this by making others wrong. But none of this works, because feeling unwanted comes from how you think the world should respond to you and not how it actually does it.

The root of this mispercection can be found by walking down memory lane. But it probably takes a long time and you may miss it. Fortunately, the misperception can be corrected right awat by perceiving your inferioty as ´it as it is what it is.´ This takes the sting out of the feeling, so whatever appeared to make you feel wrong does not have an affect on you. Therefore, the next time you by reflex make a perception that implies you are not good enough you laugh because´it as it is what it is

From the bliss of not-knowing to the happiness of serving

There is nowhere to go in a state of not-knowing since there is no sense of time and space. This you do not know before you return to the conscious experience of being someone in a world defined by time and space. That is, if you remember, being nobody and thus free to go everywhere and nowhere. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

This article explore some of the topics in the previous one, Sadness comes from being special, happiness from being basic, and bliss from not being.

A STATE OF NOT KNOWING:
Since the brain has used one second to twist a perceived gap between oneness and nothing into your present experience of something (read more about that here), it only takes one second to get back to the nothingness of a state of not-knowing.

In this state, the experiences of a world where everything seems separated is still going on. But since what you believed in being cannot be recalled, there is nobody to perceive the apparently different experiences to make a difference. Hence you are in the bliss of nothing, which is nowhere because the brain has not rendered it into something.

No reason to blame yourself for leaving a state of not-knowing. It is not possible to remain there, because the brain falls into a coma if not engaged in continous conversation about something.  Besides, you return to the conscious experience of being someone with a clean slate so you automatically serve the brain, which is adventurous.

This state of not-knowing lasts from a split second to 20 minutes, 45 at most, whereafter you either bid welcome the enlightenment of that which is one (see hack #6.1 From the inward-facing senses through a black hole into that which is one) or return to the consciousness of being someone in a world where everything seems separated.

In the latter, you return as the basic self, which serves the brain and thus everybody, because the brain has no personal preferences. Consequently, you feel good. And to enhance this feeling, the brain keeps injecting you with shots of happiness. This after-effect of a state of not-knowing can last from a few seconds to several years. Being a servant, however, feels humiliating to the special self. It wants to be in control, so it tries to exclude anything unknown by quickly making a perception where everything that does not fit into its concepts of living in the now, for example, is excluded. But since exclusion is founded on separation, which is the root of all problems, excluding something does not make you present but distant. That is, of course, until you choose not to make a perception where everything that does not fit into your belief system is excluded. In the absence of something, you are nothing which is very blissful. But if you want to hold onto something, thinking about being nothing, probably feels depressing.

HOW TO ENTER A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
To be inclusive, which you automatically are when not exclusive, is an incredible hack to apply when you feel confused. If not excluding and thus including fuzzy thoughts, sharpness and fuzziness meet. And since any contrast cancels out itself when its opposing sides are not kept apart, you are neither defined as fuzzy or sharp. The more you stay in a perfect moment like this, the less you are somebody. Read more about that in HACK #3 Not being exclusive but inclusive is freedom from being someone definitive. Therefore, eventually, you are nobody, so you enter a state of not knowing.

A more direct way to this state is connecting with the empty breath – especially if you feel speedy and restless (see hack #5.2 Uncontrolled speed leads to a state of not-knowing). However, when feeling tired, pretending to be that is perhaps the better choice of a hack because what you pretend to be is not you (see hack #1.3 Pretending to be someone definitive is liberation).

If you tend to justify everything unpleasant with somebody or something, perceiving everything as symbols of oneness is most likely the hack to go for. Alone together could also be a good hack in this case. However, except for hack #5.2 Uncontrolled speed leads to a state of not-knowing, those mentioned above are more geared towards enjoying duality than having a break from it.

Please be aware that the purpose of Alexius’ Duality Hacks is not to heal the body but the sick belief that you are in it. So if the body is sick, consider consulting a healthcare professional.

That being said, the more this sick belief is healed, the more the body is set free from your dominance. Hence the biological system is not blocked from repairing the body. NOT BEING EXCLUSIVE BUT INCLUSIVE, THERE IS NO GOOD AND EVIL
Whenever you think you know something, you have eaten from the tree of knowledge to turn you and those you consider as like-minded into the good ones and others as bad. However, the result of this knowledge is not surety. You always feel something is missing when you have projected what you judge as wrong in yourself onto others to feel good at their expense.

In the context of the belief in being someone in a world of separation, the solution to this is to bring back the projection to what you experience in being so good, and evil can meet where they were separated, namely in yourself. Hence they cancel out each other (read more about that here), so there is nothing to define you. And consequently, nothing to distract you from happily following the commands of the brain and, therefore, being in sync with the present as it creates it. Read more about that here.

Having glimpses of enlightenment, you stick to one aspect of it at a time. So if you are feeling it, you do not try to see it as well. Yet, if the visions of it start to take over, you go with that. Suppose you do not try to divide your vision into different shapes. In that case, you will not see patterns and colours in the visual glimpses of enlightenment but one bright light. GLIMPSES OF ENLIGHTENMENT IN A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
In a state of not-knowing, you may have glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one. But they are not the enlightenment of that which is one – just like a movie trailer only is a glimpse of the movie. It is impossible to see the enlightenment of that which is one, as it requires more than one. Yet, it is possible to see glimpses of it. Their intensity is proportional to how much you prioritise the inward-facing senses. The more you see, hear, feel or taste glimpses of the enlightenment of that which is one, the less you see, hear, feel or taste the world of the external senses. Read more about that here.

In the case of Alexius, the visual glimpses of enlightenment are often so bright that he wonders if he has forgotten to turn off the electric light when he closes his eyes to go to sleep. In the morning, he wakes up to the sounds of ethereal harmonies. Read more about that here. This is not to be understood that the glimpses of enlightenment blend in with the physical world. They are experienced with the inward-facing senses and the physical world with the external ones. Read more about that here.

In other words, the visual glimpses of enlightenment do not lighten up the room. On the contrary, it makes it impossible for Alexius’ to see where he is physically speaking. And the ethereal harmonies do not mix with the sounds of the birds from the trees outside Alexius’ bedroom but drown them out, even though the ethereal harmonies are the most subtle polyphony of bell-like sounds. That is why you better block out glimpses of enlightenment when driving a car or something else that calls for the external senses.

Since we are used to perceiving experiences as if they come from a world outside of us, we probably perceive glimpses of enlightenment to come from inside. But this is not so. They come from the world of the inward-facing senses, and it is in the gap between oneness that the brain perceives as something. However, it has not rendered the world of the inward-facing senses into something. Consequently, it is nowhere.

So when Alexius’ Enlightened Non-Teachings say that glimpses of enlightenment come from the inward-facing senses and the experience of the world outside of us comes from the outward-facing ones, it is not because the senses actually are divided into inside and outside, but that is how we tend to perceive it. See What and where are the inward and outward-facing senses.

Anyway, if you forget to perceive the splashes of light in different shapes and colours or the ethereal harmonies to differ from each other, the glimpses of light or sound fuse into one light or sound in which you graciously keep falling through empty space until it has emptied you out and there is not something to reunite with that which is one. The same applies to feeling or tasting the glimpses of enlightenment. This occurs by itself if you remain in a state of not-knowing for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most.

It is not normal, though, to stay that long in a state of not-knowing, nor to forget to perceive the glimpses of enlightenment differently. Instead, you, relatively quickly, leave a state of not-knowing to be in the after-effect of it.

Oneness has no effect, nor is it caused by something, as that requires more than one. And since being sad, happy or blissful calls for more than one and oneness is formless and therefore endless, whatever you belive in being is an illusion. However, being in a state of not-knowing for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, ends all beliefs in being something.

THE AFTER-EFFECT OF A STATE OF NOT-KNOWING
You need to return from a state of not-knowing to the conscious experience of being somebody after 20 minutes, 45 at most. If not, there is nobody to repeatedly confirm that the experiences fabricated by the brain from nothing into something are real. Thus there is not something to disguise that the makings of the brain are fake. And then they fall apart.

So if you do not want the experience of being someone to be terminated, you return from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone relatively quickly. Since the slate has been wiped clean in a state of not-knowing, you automatically come back as the basic self. This is a bit like a chicken whose reflexes goes on even though its head has been cut off. But in your case, it is not the head that is cut off but the silly idea that you are independent. Thus you do not have to figure out where to go. The brain will let you know.

Returning from a state of not-knowing as the basic self, the relationships you used to perceive as special, when you also perceived yourself like that, most likely fall apart (read more about that here).

As long as the after-effect of a state of not-knowing lasts, which can be from a few seconds to several years, you rely on the brain to produce experiences of being someone in a tangible world, like you depend on it to make the experiences of being someone in the intangible world of a dream you have.

Going along with those experiences feels like you are sleepwalking and cannot speed up to get something specific. That is unless you break the magic by holding onto specific thoughts and feelings, which is very stressful. But fortunately, the stress can be used for a new take-off into the empty breath and its bliss of nothing, from where you again return renewed to the consciousness of being someone.

You will probably go back and forth between this consciousness and a state of not-knowing many times before you forget to return and instead bid welcome the enlightenment of that which is one.

APPENDIX
Be aware that there is absolutely no will to perceive anything in particular in a state of not-knowing. Nor will the transition from a state of not-knowing to the consciousness of being someone be noticed because there was not somebody to be aware of being nobody in a state of not-knowing. And you do not know that the bliss of nothing has wiped the slate clean, so new perceptions automatically are generated in sync with the brain’s script. See hack #4.2 The brain’s script and how to perceive it to feel happy.

But suppose the happiness this entails feels too basic compared with the vague memories of bliss that eventually pop up from nowhere. In that case, you may try to twist the automatically generated perceptions of the brain into something that seems to prolong the memories of bliss, so you appear to have something better to show the world than the happiness the brain delivers. And since the world wants to be fooled, they do not see that this is a show to hide you do not feel good enough.

To make long short, if not altering the automatically generated perception of the brain, it injects you with shots of happiness as a reward for playing its game of duality. And if not messing with the memories of bliss, you know that duality is not real, so playing the brain’s game, there is nothing to lose.

Should you forget that and, therefore, start perceiving duality as real, the frustration this causes can be used to ignite a take-off into the empty breath, so you again have the slate wiped clean and return to the consciousness of being someone with the perception in sync with the brains fantasy of you as someone in a world of duality.

This does not necessarily mean that the slate remains clean. Your conditioned way of reacting may be so deeply rooted that you return to a familiar way of responding to something by the reflex. But, no worries, a quick visit to a state of not-knowing, and you start over with a clean slate in the brains fantasy of duality.

Sooner or later, you feel so entertained by this fantasy that you forget to remember being someone at all. Thus there does not appear to be somebody hiding non-duality.

What to be

When the special self sees the woman in this image, it may need to make up a perception of her that hides what it actually feels, so the experience of the image is perceived to be consistent with how it sees itself. On the other hand, the basic self has nothing to live up to and, therefore, nothing to hide. Hence it does not need to make a special perception of the woman consistent with a specific concept of spirituality, for example. Thus it relates to the image as it is, namely a woman without clothes in the middle of a forest. PART 1:
Appearing to a special self is not something that comes naturally. It requires constant speculation to adjust your perception, so it looks like you are special in the politically correct way. Not wanting to be special and thus basic, this is unnecessary because the basic self has no need to be, do, and have anything special. It simply goes where the brain directs it to go.

Nobody but the special self, which is made by subtracting what it does not like in its perception of itself, needs to have something added to feel complete.

It does not ask why or try to know beforehand what is around the next corner. But this uncertainty scares the special self. It needs to know what will happen. Thus it digs into the past to find events perceived as similar to the present ones. Based on this comparison, it draws up a prediction of the time to come. If this does not work out as anticipated, the special self twists its perception of the outcome or the past, or both, until it seems to run the show.

Hence, the special self appears to be in control due to its immense knowledge – or at least it will be when it has excluded what it assumes to prevent it from being entirely in control. The more it eliminates, though, the more it dissociates itself from the nature of life because that is not exclusive but inclusive (read more about that here). Consequently, the special self excludes itself from feeling connected.

Although one would think this would make the special self realise it would be better not to be exclusive, the special self concludes it must be more exclusive to feel safe. Hence it does not use the inherent energy of its anxiety as a take-off into the empty breath,* which wipes the slate clean so nothing is excluded and everything, therefore, included (read more about that here), but edit the anxiety, so it does not seem to be disturbing for a while

The present moment has nothing to do with the popular concept of being in the now, because that excludes thoughts of the past and the future, and the present moment includes everything, regardless of where thoughts and feelings seem to come from or if they are so-called negative or positive. Read more about that in hack #3.2 Inclusiveness is completeness.

Physically speaking, this does not cause the special self to be out of sync with the present moment. But mentally speaking, it is entirely out of sync with the present because everything that does not fit into the way it expects it to be is excluded in its perception of it.

PART 2:
When your perception is in sync with the few thoughts the brain keeps circulating for you to have a continuous experience of being a basic self, you remain like that. But if being basic is perceived to be down-market and you to be more special than that, you probably suspect the thoughts in play for making up the experience of you as a basic self are insufficient. Hence you try to add thoughts to the construction of the basic self, such as pure and direct, so love turns into pure love and your experiences to be direct.

But just like you cannot add something to a television show, nothing can be added to the way you have been programmed by the brain. Nor is it necessary because if you do not try to do that, the brain automatically makes a perception of yourself that says ´it is what it is.´** And as you, therefore, perceive all the experiences of the world like you are perceived, everything feels entertaining.

On the other hand, suppose you interfere with the free flow of thoughts making up this perception by holding back the breath. In that case, you will not feel entertained but inflated because the blocked thoughts multiply to escape your control. Hence the few thoughts the brain has made available for the perception of its experiences expands into a chaos of rapidly moving thoughts.

At first, this is much appreciated by the special self because extra thoughts are needed to make up a perception where you appear as independent and more special than in the automatically generated perception of the basic self. Later, however, the number of thoughts seem troubling (read more about that here), so you start to meditate to control them and thus uphold the perception of yourself as free from the brain.

But it is a vicious circle. First, control interrupts the natural flow of breath. Then thoughts are caught in the breaks where they multiply to escape, which is also what happens in meditation (read more about that here). The way out of this mess is not to exercise more control but to have the uncontrolled energy of chaos ignite a take-off into the empty breath.* From there, you go on with a clean slate. Thus you breathe freely, and perceptions in sync with the experiences of the brain are automatically generated. Consequently, you have a happy relationship with the brain.

INTERLUDE:
It is only the special self who needs to question everything and urges others to do the same. The basic self does not have such a need. It is to be compared to a car in Monopoly that never asks who it is or where to go. It simply moves by the throw of the dice, regardless this means it must go to a place defined as a prison or a free spot. Every experience is equally entertaining because its reaction to them is perceived as ´it is what it is.´**

The throw of the dice also determines where the special self goes, but it hides that by making a story that in retrospect seems to eliminate that ´it is what it is´ because ´I know what it is,´** wherefore I am in charge.

The basic self does not experience triumph and disaster to be the same. Yet, it is equally entertained by them because they are both perceived as ´it is what it is.´**

You have to follow the messages on the cards you draw in a game like Monopoly if you want to be part of it. Likewise, you must follow the messages from brain if you want to take part in the world it makes you experience. But you are free to perceive this as you choose.

PART 3:
When you in a game like Monopoly are told to go to jail, the colour of your car or your state of mind cannot change the instruction. Likewise, you will get unchangeable instructions from the brain, regardless of what and where you appear to be on planet Earth.

The notion of yourself as special is based on how you perceive to affect others and what you imagine they think about it. Thus you constantly adjust your perception of their responses, so it seems to confirm that you are special. See also The closer you look, the less you see.

If the basic self has to go to jail, it does so without asking why because it follows the brain’s commands. It trusts the brain to know what is in the best interest of the basic self and everybody else as they are all fabricated by the brain. Read more about that here.

But the special self does not trust the brain. It fights it to be free from it. Although nothing has changed, and it remains the basic self as created by the brain, it believes that through meditation, for example, it has become independent of the brain and thus a better self. However, that is impossible. But it is possible to change the perception of itself from basic to special.

This is done by eliminating everything from its perception of the self that it judges as wrong in the basic self, so it seems to have become a new self that is more special and free. To prove this, even when it has to follow instructions and go to jail, the special self claims it was framed and will make the guilty ones pay for the unjust. Working on accomplishing that, the special self sees itself as in charge.

If you forget all about being a basic, special or any other kind of self and therefore do not know what you are, the enlightenment of that which is one is bid welcome (hack #6.1 From the inward-facing senses through a black hole into that which is one). But since it takes more than one to be somebody, nobody is in the enlightenment of that which is one, wherefore nobody has been enlightened. Yet somebody who at times steps aside, so the enlightenment of that which is one is bid welcome, is to be compared to an enlightened.

Alexius is such a person. That is why Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings are founded on that which is one and have nothing to give since that requires more than one.

When the apparent difference between what you believe in being you and others is not perceived to make a difference, you cannot be defined as someone substantial in a tangible world. Hence you are in the bliss of not-knowing. This does not require special clothes, eyes to be closed, or something else – just the willingness to have the belief in being someone definitive undone. APPENDIX:
The basic self is not that far from not remembering to be somebody. Thus it easily connects with the empty breath that brings it into a state of not-knowing,* where the apparent different experience of you and others is not perceived to make a difference. Since this means you cannot be defined as separated from others, there is nobody to confirm the brain´s rendering of a world where everything appears to be separated by time and space.

If this goes on for more than 20 minutes, 45 at most, the brain falls into a coma because if there is not more than one having a conversation inside or outside, it is out of work. It is not very often, though, that someone falls into a state of not-knowing,* least of all that they remain there for more than 20 minutes. Everybody wants to be somebody, so they make sure to have an ongoing conversation with someone perceived to be different from themselves. Should they come close to forgetting this, for example by reading Alexius Enlightened Non-Teachings, the brain threatens them with total annihilation. This makes them come to heel and do their best to maintain a conversation with someone experienced to be different from themselves, so, just like in a dream, it seems that there is more than you, although there is nobody at all.

All experiences are make-believe

Science believes that no thought comes out of nothing. Yet, they cannot say where it comes from, and the reason is that all thoughts actually come from nothing. The experience of any thought as something is make-believe. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

If you experience reading something, you are hallucinating because reality is that which is one, and it takes more than one to be aware of anything. Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings do not correct this mistake by revealing oneness because that also calls for more than one. Instead, they point to the experiences of more than one as nothing, so the formlessness of oneness does not seem to be hidden by a fata morgana.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self, which is an altered version of the basic self, is always looking for mistakes in the person it perceives to have become to correct them and thus appear in charge of itself. On the other hand, the basic self does not consider itself to be in charge of anything. Instead, it is a servant of everything because it is adjusted to the flow of thoughts coming from the brain, which does not know about personal preferences but what is in the best interest of the whole.

If the special self has a personality of a faultfinder, every mistake it finds makes it angry, whereas the basic self gets happy because that fulfils its function.

Perceiving the flow of thoughts as ´it is what it is´ does not mean that you stop being a faultfinder if that is how the brain has made your personality. But it means that finding faults makes you happy because doing so fulfil your nature.

However, this is not the case for the special self happy. It has removed itself from its basic nature as a servant of the brain and instead performs as its master. Therefore, as it is supposed to make things work, flaws make it feel guilty for having failed. Still, it likes feeling this because it confirms that it is essential and can make a difference.

And it reckons that this prestige will bring about mature happiness and not the childish kind that it perceives the basic self gets from by the brain from serving it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The world of the basic self is not without sadness, but as that and happiness are like two sides of the same coin, you cannot be sad without being happy. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Alexius nature is to not exclude but include, so since the special self is made by excluding what is judged to be wrong in the basic self, he cannot perceive himself as special. Yet he can simulate being that by imitating the behaviour of the special self, which is to always be and have more – just like he can simulate to be someone in the game of Monopoly as if he wants to grab everything from everyone.

At times he is so successful in doing this that he starts to believe he is special and thus feels as confused as those considering themselves unique.

But since he does not exclude feeling confused, its chaotic energy is free to ignite a take-off into the empty breath, so he again is indifferent to what and where he seems to be and as nobody can pretend to be somebody. Since the basic self is not exclusive but inclusive, and since everything in a world of duality comes in pairs, the inclusion of happiness contains sadness and vice versa. Feeling unhappy, therefore, is not a clear-cut state of unhappiness. It is more like feeling happy/sad.

However, the special self is not inclusive but exclusive, so it cannot feel sadness and happiness simultaneously. Nor is it able to feel any of those emotions specifically because it suppresses unhappiness to feel happy. Therefore, as there is no sadness to define happiness, what it believes in feeling is imagined. The special self does not know this because it is so used to replace what it feels with mental explanations about it.

If the intensity of a feeling manages to surpass its theories, the special self is devastated. Yet that is nothing compared to the annihilation it faces by experiencing happiness and sadness simultaneously because when two opposing feelings meet, they cancel out each other (read more about that here). Thus there is nothing left but emptiness, which to the special self is depressing and to the basic one pure bliss (see hack #5.3 ´The empty breath´ and the bliss of not believing to be someone).

Happiness is a mechanical product of the brain, which needs to be counteracted with sadness for you to know whether you are happy or not. This is the way of duality, and ultimately speaking, there is no solution to this constant interaction of opposites other than having the belief in duality undone. This, however, does not result in something because in non-duality, there is no more than that which is one, and it takes more than one to get a result.

As it also takes more than one to experience being someone, what you experience is not in non-duality or anywhere else because non-duality is formless and therefore endless. Consequently, being someone who experiences something is a fantasy. Should you want to go on fantasising about duality but not being burdened by it, you stay true to the pairs of duality. In other words, if you do not divide sadness and happiness, you feel integrated when being happy/sad.

When you watch a movie, your experience of it and what you think the participants are experiencing are fabricated by the brain. This is the same, no matter what and where and with whom you experience to be. Every experience, whether you or others seem to have it, is made by the brain from out of nothing as if it is something so that you appear to be someone definitive in the experience of a physical, spiritual or dream world.

Most are aware that the experience of being someone in a dream is an illusion since they are not there but in their beds. However, most are unaware that the same applies to the experience of being someone in a physical or spiritual world. That which is you is not there because it is no different from that which is one, and it takes more than one to be somewhere.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The experiences the brain produces to make you feel that it is you who have them can, in many ways, be compared to the news that Facebook generates, especially for you. Based on the info Facebook has gathered about you, it collects what its artificial intelligence predicts you wish to see, regardless it is fake or not. However, unlike Facebook, the brain has all your info, so the experiences you get from it is based on you. Thus what you experience is what you are. This cannot be altered – only your perception of it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Whether living naked in the forest is an experience you are daydreaming of or actually have is the same to the brain because it does not differentiate between what you believe is real or imaginative. It makes all experiences from the same nothingness into something entertaining. This also applies to reading this. Nobody is doing that, as it requires more than one to do something, and there is no more than which is one since it is formless and therefore endless. The brain does not differentiate between the experiences you believe in having when awake, asleep, watching a movie or meditating. Nor does it separate what you perceive to be your or others experience, or divide them into real or imaginary, authentic or fake, physical or spiritual. All the experiences are processed in one higgledy-piggledy by the very same organ in the brain.

Although fact and fabrication, negative and positive, real and imaginary, the writer and the reader of this article are opposing elements they are not meant to fight but define each other, so you really feel them. This does not mean the brain considers its experiences to be real. On the contrary, it is fully aware they have been rendered from nothing to look as if they are something. And so what? The purpose is to have fun and making you feel entertained by duality.

But just like the browser that generates the letters in this article does not know how you perceive them, the brain does not know that most divide its pairs of duality, so the opposing elements are not seen to be supporting but fighting each other. In other words, they think you have to get rid of hate to have love. But without hatred, you cannot feel loved. Thus you do not feel entertained but frustrated by duality.

The practical implication of this is that you do not have to avoid fantasies of something perceived as wrong because, as long as you do not mess up the pairs of duality, you feel entertained whether you fantasise about something or act it out. The basic self instinctively knows this, so it devotes itself to the fantasies popping up without holding back. Thus the brain feels grateful that you join a story it has made for your entertainment. The above also means that even though you, due to the rules of society, or yourself, must hold back certain feelings of aggression and love, for example, you do not have to repress those feelings but can live them out in fantasies. This also applies to the feelings you in the past hid from your awareness by projecting them onto your body or others. The brain renders a world in which there appears to be somebody who can vouch for its authenticity. In return, the world seems to attest to the existence of the one making this confirmation. But It is all fiction, and so is the story about the brain making it because there is no more than that which is one, and it takes more than one to make or experience something. The special self needs to be part of something important to not feel alone. Thus it checks all notifications on Facebook and makes sure to like what its friends write so that it is going to like it and be liked by them, and they all are confirmed to be together in a group of extraordinary people. That is if you believe there is something in cyberspace.

The special self likes to meet new people. However, not to get to know them, but to answer their questions. That is a perfect opportunity to recreate the story it has fabricated about itself so becomes more exciting.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Consciousness is a fabrication of the brain done with the purpose of keeping you occupied with the awareness of something so that the nothingness of your existence is not exposed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You do not want to know, it is nobody but what you believe to be who deceives you into perceiving experiencing as real because knowing that would expose what you believe in being is nothing, so you are deceived by nobody.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As most unconsciously sense that what and where they experience to be is an expression of thoughts, they assume they can manifest something from thoughts. But nobody has ever made a single thought themselves. They are all produced by the brain, and they do not manifest anything at all. What and where you believe in being is make-believe. Also that it is made by the brain or something else. Just like nobody is making a dream and there is not somebody in it at all.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You are not reading this, and it has not been written. It is not possible because there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless. Yet, it seems possible to believe there is more than that which is one. And since you appear to be reading and Alexius writing this, you and he are one in that belief. Thus to believe there is more than that which is one is a positive confirmation of oneness.

So even though the belief in a world where there seems to be more than one appears to hide that which is one, it does not deny it because this belief would not be possible without it since there is no more than that which is one.

In a world where there seems to be more than one, you have to choose something if you want to uphold the belief that there is more than than that which is one. Thus choosing not to choose something, the belief falls apart. This might be easier to choose if you stick to being the basic self as it houses in so much happiness that sooner or later you forget to choose.

When you perceive yourself not to be basic but special, you constantly look for somebody you can manipulate into ratifying this (read more about that here). That is why you always need to meet others and have a calendar full of appointments.

But as closeness may reveal the misery behind your story of greatness, you prefer to follow the conventional rules of being together. For example, a traditional dinner party is set up, so you appear to be together. However, if you adjust to the table manners, you do not risk being close to anybody.

The basic self, on the other hand, has no need to be acknowledged as unique. Hence it does not try to fit into the collectively agreed concepts of how to be together, nor does it use these concepts to manipulate others to do and say something that attests to its importance. It has no need to be important or something else other than being a tool for the brain.

The special self expects others not to question its story of greatness but to adapt to it so they appear to be ordinary and the special self to be original. This is its way to hide it feels inferior.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Independent choices are generally made in retrospect when you compile elements of the past into a story that seems to prove you are in control. This self-deception can be compared to when a dream is over, and you interpret what you remember, so it seems to establish you as special, although you were not in the dream at all.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Those who believe they have free will are easily manipulated by the many doctrines of how to be spiritual, socialistic, capitalistic or whatnot because they think they are independent.

But a human, just like a car, is made to serve. And since those perceiving themselves to be independent avoid following the natural impulses coming from the brain, they are bound to follow one of the worlds many speculative doctrines instead. Or rather to perceive that this is what they choose to do, as you cannot actually avoid the commands of the brain – just like a car cannot choose the direction itself. It is in the hands of the driver. Likewise, you are in the hands of the brain.

Yet, unlike a car, you have a consciousness that is free to perceive the direction as you want to see it. In the case of the special self, it makes a perception in which it has excluded everything that does not fit into the special doctrine it believes will make it more unique and, therefore, independent of the brain.

When the brain decides you should have a cake and you fight it due to ideological reasons but, eventually, have a cake, you say it was your choice to give in. In this way you fool yourself into thinking, you do things in your own way and pace.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Having one´s perception in sync with the stream of thoughts as it comes from the brain is like having the brain blown out for unnecessary thoughts. It feels like being wholly absorbed by a TV show after having binge-watched it.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Since the basic self does not perceive itself to be different from the brain, and since everything it experiences to be, see, think and feel is made by the brain, the basic self does not belong to anyone but everyone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If one’s perception is in sync with the flow of thoughts from the brain, experiences seem relative. Not being in sync with the flow, they appear to be definitive. The former results in feeling free and the latter in feeling imprisoned.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you generally feel irritated or confused, you are not in sync with the brain´s script because all of its feelings are fleeting, and their lightness entails happiness. In other words, if irritation is sticky, you have chosen to be independent of the brain, and being on your own does not feel good.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self wants self-government, but its ideas of how to govern itself do not work because the brain is the master, except when it comes to perceiving its rulings. However, your perception of the brain´s management only changes how you feel about it. And since the brain loves you, your perception is out of sync with it, if you feel unappreciated.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

What you believe in being is based on memories stored in the brain. The experience of something coming from somewhere else is a creation of it. So there is nothing else to serve other than the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

As it takes more than one to experience something, the brain needs to render a world where there seems to be more than one, so the self it has created can experience to be someone there. Within the apparent materialisation of a world defined by time and space, your most defining experiences of being someone are stored in the brain, and as they constitute what you believe to be (read more about that here), you cannot have this belief undone without honouring the brain.

So although the experiences fabricated and stored in the brain are made from nothing, you should not dismiss them as something because they ratify the choice you seem to have made to establish you as someone in a world defined by time and space. If not honouring your choice, it cannot be undone.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Watching a TV show, the brain is in its right element, which is to continually pass remarks and predict what comes next as if the show is not fictional but real. When not doubting or altering these comments but going with their flow, you are also in your right element, namely to be a follower of the brain. Being that, you do not perceive yourself to be different from it because the brain contains the sum of your most significant memories, and that is what you believe to be. Hence you are not just a follower but a leader as well.

But not following the brain, you are neither servant nor master and never feel like you are in your right element. On the contrary, you always search for something special to follow to make you feel better. Maybe you imagine a specific school of thought will help you peel off the layers that you imagine prevent you from being more authentic and thus in your right element. But no matter what you believe in being, it only seems so because thoughts, like a binary code of nothing, are put together in a perception of yourself that appears to manifest that.

This is not to say that following the brain is more real than this apparent manifestation. Every experience is make-believe – just like in a role-play. However, following the instructions of the game master can be pretty fun. Likewise, believing to be someone in a world defined by time and space is quite entertaining when you do not add or subtract something from the instructions you get from the brain.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

You can compare the basic self to a cat. It does not plan to do Pilates at a specific hour but, naturally, stretch out when its biological system tells it to do that. Nor does it attend special seminars to learn who it is or how to be transformed into something else. There is no ´I´ with a need to be anything else than a cat.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self is not a definitive entity but relative to the brain and, therefore, without an egoistic drive. The special self is also relative to the brain but not without ego because contrary to the basic self, it perceives the thoughts coming from the brain as if it is in charge of them and, consequently, itself. It is a wonder, though, how it can go on believing this when it does not even know who it is.

Being in tune with the present experience created by the brain, the basic self does not perceive itself as definitive, but relative to that. On the other hand, the special self needs to believe it handles everything in its own way so it can uphold the image of being someone definitive.

The basic self never gets disappointed by somebody because they are not the ones perceived to be the reason for what is going on. The brain is, and as it always rewards the basic self with happiness for perceiving the experiences it produces as they are and not as they could be, the basic self has no reason to be disappointed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Within the context of a world where there seems to be more than one, the basic self is everyone and no one. As it, therefore, is relative, there is no self to doubt. On the other hand, the special self always has doubts about itself because it insists on being someone definitive.

That is probably why it likes to show off as self-assured and wisely point out there must be a real self choosing between being the basic or special self. However, it is only within the reality of a world where there seems to be more than one, there appears to a choice. In reality, there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless. And as it takes more than one to choose something, choosing anything is an illusion.

When there is nothing to hope for, what you believe to be in a world where there seems to be more than one is no more, because it is built on the hope that there is more than that which is one.

In other words, regardless of what you believe to be, you are nothing and therefore have nothing to hope for. That is why the reading of Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings works for you if it seems to result in a consuming sense of hopelessness. Within the context of believing to be someone in a world where there seems to be more than one, you do not have a definitive self but one that is relative to the fleeting experiences produced by the brain. And since the brain makes sure your response to the experiences is perceived as ´it is what it is,´ you feel satisfied by all of them. That is if you do not override this basic perception and make a special one in which you seem to be someone definitive who is in control of its life. In that case, you get frustrated because things do not work out according to your ideas but the brain´s script. Although it allows you to choose between going right or left, for example, the brain decides your decision’s subsequent events – just like in a computer game, where every outcome of your choices is prefixed. Or like a flight to New York continues as planned, regardless of your whereabouts on the plane.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you really feel something, you are nothing but that. Consequently, there is nothing else to contrast what you feel and thus not something to define you. That is why so many avoid facing their feelings by mentally understanding and/or justifying the feeling.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Most try to discover a definitive self in their different approaches to the world. Yet, there is no other self than the basic one created by the brain. It is without a centre and ever-changing with the fleeting experiences the brain develops. So if you try to define yourself in a definite way, you are bound to feel unfulfilled. But you always feel fulfilled if defined by the fleeting experiences produced by the brain. In this flexibility of attitude relativism, any experience generated by the brain amuses you, regardless of what and where you appear to be.

If the special self perceives somebody to be stupid, it is most likely meant to condemn them. But when the basic self makes the same perception, it is not to blame somebody but to fend off a relationship that the brain instructs you to avoid. Alexius´ Duality Hacks do not detach you from feelings. They may seem more distant when you are in a state of not-knowing, but when you return to the consciousness of being someone definitive, they appear very close. But since they are no longer perceived as something but nothing, you enjoy the intimacy of nothing in whatever shape it seems to take. Thus you are indifferent to the supposed difference between the contrasts making up a world of duality and thus to the belief in separation.

Should you forget that feelings are not something but nothing and focus on the apparent tangibility of them, the worries that this seems to cause can be used to ignite a take-off into the empty breath. And since this brings you back into a state of not-knowing, where there is nobody to judge the apparent differences in the world of duality to make a difference, you return to the consciousness of being someone definitive in such a world, based on the sense that nothing there makes a difference. Thus it all seems equally entertaining.

The self is created by the brain, and it cannot be changed by you. But that does not mean it is definitive. It is relative to the present experiences created by the brain. »The brain is constantly reconfiguring every second of your life. Even by the time you get to the end of this paragraph, you’ll be a slightly different person than you were at the beginning.« David Eagleman, an American neuroscientist, in The working of the brain resembles drug dealers in Albuquerque.

That is why the more you read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings, the more Alexius´ Duality Hacks start to apply themselves.

Meditation, the basic & special self

To define something as small, it must be contrasted by something tall. The special self, however, always tries to exclude one side of a contrast. For example, it wants love but not hate and positivity but not negativity. Thus the special self, therefore, excludes hate and negativity from itself by projecting it on others. But as you cannot experience one side of a contrast without the other, you exclude love and positivity when you exclude hate and negativity. The function of the brain is to create entertaining thoughts for the self that it has fabricated. Therefore, if thoughts do not seem to please but frustrate the self, its consciousness most likely perceives the flow of them so it appears to comply with theoretical concepts of capitalism, socialism, spiritualism or another ism meant to make the self feel there is something better than the natural flow of thoughts from the brain.

But since this perception is founded on a particular belief system, it is restricted by its concepts. And since self-discipline does not make you feel delighted but sad, you neither get the fulfilment your belief system promises to deliver. Instead, you get stress and confusion – especially because the thoughts you have compiled to keep your perception in line with your belief system do not like your manipulation. Hence, they move faster and faster to escape your domination.

No worries, if you do not try to stop this restless energy, it automatically ignites a take-off into the empty breath, where the slate is wiped clean for all misperceptions. Hence, only one perception left, namely the one that makes you happy because it is in sync with the experiences the brain produces of a world outside of you. Fortunately, you do not have to compose it yourself. The brain does that automatically when you do not interfere with it. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The special self likes to believe that manipulating thoughts into visualising something specific makes it happen. This idea makes it appear to be in control of its life.

But it is like thinking the TV show you turn on by hitting the remote control is made by you. Somebody else has made the show, and the only thing you can change is your perception of it. This is also how the basic self has been transformed into a special self, namely by perceiving the basic self so that it seems to have become an independent being in charge of its own life.

But the special self needs constant approval from others to feel this is so. To get that, it often establishes a family, which can be manipulated into giving it the confirmation it needs. If that does not work as intended, the special self may pay money to a psychologist who will ratify its uniqueness. Still, it does not realise how dependent it is on those supporting its perception of being independent.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Having established itself as someone in charge of its own life, the special self needs to meditate or something else that seems to make it able to control thoughts to fool itself into believing that thoughts are not produced by the brain but itself. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

Since the basic self is relative to the experiences created by the brain (read more about that here), it is not someone definitive. Thus the inexact flow of thoughts coming from the brain seems natural. But the special self thinks it does not make sense because it wants to be someone definitive.

To distance itself from the brain, it composes a perception in which the basic self seems to have been transformed into a being independent of the brain. However, this twisted perception calls for more thoughts than those few the brain has available to make a perception aligned with the basic self. Thus, the special self meditates to generate more thoughts.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Those who perceive themselves as unique beings with the power to do things in their own way and pace need many thoughts to justify this twisted perception. However, the movement of all these thoughts soon becomes so hectic that they try to slow them down via meditation.

That is the official reason. But as anybody who has meditated knows, thoughts multiply when trying to control them. And that is the real reason for meditating because many thoughts are needed to construct an appearance of being unique.

 ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self does not feel disturbed by the flow of thoughts that come from the brain. On the contrary, it loves this quiet flow because it makes it able to serve the brain in a laid-back way. But the special self who want to be the master of the brain feels troubled by thoughts. However, the thoughts from the brain are few.

The frantic flow of thoughts, the special self experiences, has been generated by itself. It has multiplied the simple flow, the brain develops to maintain a basic itself into a large group of thoughts from where it can compose a perception of itself as an independent. Read more about that here. Then, when it needs a break from the multitudes of thoughts, it looks for something mind-numbing like alcohol, drugs or a mantra.

Should it really manage to relax, it feels horrified because, without all the special thoughts it has generated, the image of being in control falls apart. Thus there is no self-deception to hide that being someone you are dependent on, the brain, which depends on you to confirm its experiences as real. However, not fighting this interdependence, there is nothing to hide, all the brain´s experiences of you as someone in a capsule of time and space are as unreal as you being someone in a video game. Therefore, appearing to be in a world defined by time and space feels as entertaining as playing a game.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The brain works like nature. Therefore, serving it, you also have fun throwing seeds here and everywhere without worrying about the outcome. But those who believe to be in charge of themselves think much about the result of their actions. They want to get as much as possible for as little as possible (read more about that here). Hence they organise the seeds in straight lines, which results in much profit but no fun. Some solve that by buying things that make them happy, and others try to find something spiritual inside them to feel good. But the way to feel good is to serve the brain because it has created you to do that.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you are scripted by the brain to feel sexual lust, you will feel horny no matter what you do. However, you will not enjoy your passion if you try to suppress it through meditation or tantra sex. Read more about sex here.

If you perceive yourself to be detached from the experiences you seem to have, you fool yourself because you need them to prove this.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When you try to solve absent-mindedness by mindfulness meditation or grounding exercises, you make it worse because you do not know how to take care of yourself. Only your maker knows that. And since it is the brain, the solution, in the context of believing to be someone, is to be aligned with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain instead of using meditation to distance yourself from the stream of thoughts.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Mindfulness is for those who cannot help exploiting others – just like in ancient times, meditation was introduced to the barbarians seeking shelter in Ashrams, so they could learn to control themselves and not abuse others.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self enjoys being aware of itself as someone substantial by continually perceiving the experiences the brain produces as tangible. However, if it twists its perception of these experiences, so they seem to be spiritual, for example, they are not perceived as they are but how the self thinks they should be. Consequently, the self disassociates itself from the brain and thus itself, since what and where it appears to be is a product of the brain.

In other words, the self´s perceived independence of the brain is a disassociation from itself. And every act that the self perceives to do in its own way and pace deepens the alienation. That is why meditating to become purer, higher or whatnot enhances the feeling of remoteness instead of closeness. Thus you do not get the joy of appearing to be someone substantial in a tangible world, nor do you get around to undo the belief that being definable is real because that is suppressed by the imagination of being spiritual.

Since it is impossible to alter the stream of thoughts that the brain produces to uphold the basic self it has created, the consciousness that the brain has installed in it make a perception of the stream that establishes itself as the maker of it. Then, like a god, it says, »This is my creation.« And Bam! The world, as it perceives it, appears to manifest. Next, it says, »I am an independent being.´ And Bam! The perception is ratified as a fact.

Third, it builds a character with a few flaws, so it always has something to improve through meditation, Tai Chi or something else that makes it seem to be in control and thus able to be and have something specific. This makes it feel unique but not satisfied because it is all on its own.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The sun seems to go up and down regardless of what you think. Likewise, you go up and down no matter what you think. You only hang onto some thoughts, such as »I better do this now,« to appear as if in control. If you do not desire to be in charge you would not do this. Consequently, you have no need to get rid of thoughts through meditation and whatnot.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The basic self has no need to relax or transform itself through meditation, yoga, fitness and whatnot. On the contrary, since its perception is in sync with the stream of thoughts that come from the brain, it is rewarded with shots of happiness. And since this regularly makes it forget to remember being somebody, it knows there is nothing to transform.

On the other hand, the special self never forgets to remember being somebody. It is always on a mission to become more and be part of something greater. But since that never turns out as expected, it settles for following a guru or something else that seems to improve its social status.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you need to relax, you are on a mission to be someone definitive. To achieve that, you make a perception of the stream of thoughts coming from the brain where thoughts perceived as upsetting have been excluded. However, this does not result in peace but fear of the repressed. Not trying to edit the ever-changing flow of thoughts but perceiving it as ´it is what it is,´ you are not someone definitive but relative to the present experience produced by the brain. Thus hating what you dislike feels just as exciting as loving what you like. Hence there is no need to relax.

The special self always looks for something to fix what it perceives as wrong. But it objects to the solution that would fix everything immediately, namely not perceiving the brain as an enemy but a friend (read more about that here). By doing that, everybody becomes a friend because the experience of somebody is produced by the brain.

Ultimately speaking, the solution is to undo the belief in being someone who experiences something. As this is the end of being anything, the special self avoids it by meditating or something else that seems to confirm it exists.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

If you perceive the brains basic rendering of you as someone in a capsule of time and space to be a bit boring, the special self sets in by offering you more exotic ways of perceiving it, for example, by coming from the heart (read more about that here), living in the now or having direct experiences.

But since all experiences – no matter where you believe they come from or how they seem to be experienced – are a construction of thoughts (read more about that here) fabricated by the brain, the perception of having such special experiences is nothing but a reconstruction of the thoughts made by the brain.

However, this reconstruction does not work because it is not in tune with the brain´s rendering of you in a capsule of time and space. The experience the brain creates of the present consist of all thoughts popping up now, including those of the past and the future. When in sync with the whole bunch, every moment feels perfect. See hack #3.1 Every moment is the perfect moment.

But this is not how it feels if you eliminate some of those thoughts so you can adjust to concepts like coming from the heart, living in the now or having direct experiences. This makes you feel disconnected. The same applies when you try to follow a plan.

The self, that the brain has fabricated from nothing (read more about that here) and continuously administer so it appears to be something, feels restricted when it imagines the freedom it could have if not managed by the brain but itself. But the self cannot be changed, only the perception of it. So no matter how you perceive yourself, you are still the same self that the brain has created and managel.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

It is foolish to think you are someone in a video game just because it seems to make you feel something. Whatever you believe in feeling is based on your interpretation of computer-generated events. In other words, what you feel is made by you. The same applies to what you feel in the world where you believe to read this. If you feel good about it, it is because you choose to interpret it so you feel this way. It is also make-believe if what you read makes you angry. You get this feeling because you have chosen to perceive this article in a way that makes you upset. Thus it is your choice whether you feel good or angry.

It is also your own doing to conclude that a god, higher consciousness or whatnot is making the world where you believe to be. There is neither god nor you, as that requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless.

Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings do not reveal the truth because that requires more than one, and there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless. So just like everything else in a world where there seems to be more than one, Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings is a load of rubbish. However, he is not trying to make them look like the truth, nor does he endorse a world where there seems to be more than one as real by offering you something.

Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings have not something to give because they do not know of anything but that which is one. But since it takes more than one to know something, this knowledge is as illusionary as anything else that can be known. Nevertheless, if someone who believes to read Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings realises that everything known is an illusion, they have fulfilled their purpose.

When knowledge is exposed as nothing, it does not appear to be something hiding there never was or will be more than the formlessness of oneness. Until then, though, there is no reason not to enjoy the belief that it is possible to know something while this belief is being undone. That is what hack #4.1 The basic self versus the special one, is about.

The basic self of Alexius is to be compared to a storeroom manager with an academic mind or an app that automatically looks in its database for how to efficiently organise everything dropped on from the external world. If it is not Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings that the basic self of Alexius arranges, it is his music library, kitchen, or something else.

However, Alexius internal world is not organised. He is not exclusive. Thus the thoughts and feelings arising about himself are not arranged in something that defines him as anything in particular. Therefore, he is neither specifically happy nor sad, for example. Instead, he is happy/sad. Read more about that in hack #4.4 The duality flow goes to non-duality.

The brain, which is in charge of the basic self of Alexius, does not care what he organises, nor if that establishes something to be good or bad. As long as something is set in order, he fulfils his function and thus makes the brain satisfied, wherefore it rewards him with shots of happiness (read more about that here).

These qualities of the basic self, however, are not good for writing Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings. They come in a flow of wordless harmonies, which would be disrupted if put into a system. So instead, Alexius, in a state of not-knowing, hums along with the harmonies until words hasty and unorganised flows out of his hands into the computer.

For now, suffice to say that in a state of not-knowing, the brains rendering of a self that is conscious of itself as someone definitive is bypassed (read more about that here).

But since the combination of words coming from humming along with the ethereal harmonies often seems too spaced out for a world defined by time and space, Alexius´ basic self comes in handy to arrange them in a way where they appear more consistent. Even though Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings are about the end of the brain and its fantasy of somebody living in a capsule of time and space, the brain happily helps the basic self organises its own termination. After all, nor the brain or its fantasy is real, so nothing ends but the belief that it is.

Only someone like Alexius, who is to be compared to the enlightenment of that which is one, can write Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings. This is not because he knows what oneness is. On the contrary, he has not realised that since doing so calls for more than one. Yet he has realised there is no more than that which is one and a world where there seems to be more than one, therefore, is unreal.

Lately, when Alexius was humming to the ethereal harmonies coming his way, they turned into the words of this article and the other ones making up HACK #4 When you begin to live by duality, it is going to end. But since his basic self has been quite casual in its approach to organise them, they partly remain as the bits and pieces he received. Hence feel free to aimlessly browse them.

Should this seem confusing, it could be that you believe to be a special self, and therefore expect everything to be set up orderly and consistently. No worries. This confusion, if not edited, will ignite a take-off into the empty breath (read more about that in hack #5.2 Uncontrolled speed leads to a state of not-knowing), which brings you into a state of not-knowing where there is nobody to care about anything.

If this is what you want, you do not need to learn more because it does not require knowledge. On the contrary, not knowing anything, you automatically connect with the empty breath. So if you go on reading HACK #4 When you begin to live by duality, it is going to end, it should not be to learn but to unlearn what you believe to know. Reading Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings in this way, Alexius´ Duality Hacks apply themselves the more you read them. Just like the story of a TV show reveal itself, the more you watch.

The basic self, as well as the special one, can be divided into many subcategories. For example, the basic self of Alexius, which is set up as a store manager, can use these qualities in many different ways. Years ago, for example, they were used to organise the music he played when DJing, so he could pick the right records for a continuous flow of beats. HACK #4 When you begin to live by duality, it is going to end, takes a look at two of the main ways of appearing to be someone definitive, a basic or special self. Actually, there is only the basic self. It is a construction of thoughts assembled by the brain that cannot be altered. But the consciousness that the brain has installed in the self to make it aware of itself as someone definitive is free to perceive the self as it sees fit. If its perception of the self is in sync with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain to uphold the experience of being a basic self, it feels at home.

The special self does not understand, that negativity is as important as positivity and it is their interaction – the positive and negative pole in an electric wire, for example – that releases their inherent energy (read more about that here).

But if the consciousness chooses to perceive the basic self as independent of the brain, the perceived new self feels disconnected and incomplete. Especially because the special self is founded on excluding what is judged to be wrong in the old one.

That is why it always looks for something to improve itself or the world. But as the improvements are based on excluding the thoughts and feelings that a particular group of people judges as incorrect, the sense of being incomplete is enhanced (read more about that here).

Therefore, since the special self always perceives something to be missing, it constantly feels frustrating. Considering that the suffering is caused by the special self´s perception, it would be obvious to correct the perception, so it is aligned with the stream of thoughts coming from the brain to uphold the experience of being someone. But this would be the end of being independent.

Hence, the special self chooses to hide the mental discomfort from its awareness by dumping it in the body’s weak spots. The suppressed energy sooner or later breaks out by sickening the body, wherefore the special self again feels frustrated and generates a new psychosomatic disorder. And so it goes. If the shoulders feel tight or the breath is held back, you can be sure the special self has made a perception that interrupts the natural flow between the body and the brain, so it seems the special self takes over and can change the body by its ideas of spirituality, wholeness, balance, fitness, or whatever it think will make it stand out. Nevertheless, if the brain has scripted you to have a cake, no matter how much you fight it, you will get it because the brain is in control.

This does not mean you have no say in what cake to take. But no matter which one and how many you choose, the subsequent experiences are scripted. If you chose to see these experiences other than something meant to entertain you, you will need more thoughts than the brain has made available to enjoy the experiences it make. In other words, if you want to construct a perception that implies you learned something spiritual from having a cake, you need to multiply the basic thoughts of the brain to have enough for such a twisted perception. This is often done through mindfulness, Tai Chi or something else that implies, you are in charge and thus able to control thoughts. Read more about how thoughts are generated and not slowed down in meditation.

The special self has an ambivalent approach to psychosomatic disorders. On the one hand, it would like to be without physical problems and the lack of energy they entail, but on the other hand, the tensions in the body – often in the lower back, shoulders, neck and jaw – caused by the suppressed feelings, disturbs the natural flow between the brain and the body. Thus the special self imagines it can repair the body with its mental ideas of wellness.

This immaterial approach to something material, though, is like sending positive thoughts to a car that is out of gasoline. It is a nice fantasy. However, a vehicle, as well as a body, must be taken care of on its own term. The car needs gasoline, and the body needs the shots of happiness that it automatically gets when your perception is in sync with the thoughts produced by the brain and not the edited version of them that you believe to be more balanced or whatever matches your idea of spirituality. Actually, the special self edits everything – also this article – so that it appears to know what it means.


What and where you believe in being is based on the experiences produced by the brain, so why not support it. If you do, the brain will reward you with so much happiness that you, eventually, forget to believe its experiences are real. Hence there is no belief to hide that which cannot be believed, namely that which is one. Photo © Alexius Jorgensen.

In reality, though, the special self does not understand anything, least of all why it is not happy. That it blames on the brain, but the reason is that the special self tries to override it, contrary to the basic self who blindly follows it and therefore is rewarded with shots of happiness (read more about that here).

The special self loves to read about otherworldly events like near-death or out-of-body experiences and interpret them as a transition to something better and more real.

It has much emphasis on transition, because that seems to imply, it can become more special. But being something requires more than one and oneness is formless and therefore endless ,so there is no more than that which is one. Hence you are nothing regardless you believe to be spiritual, powerful, full of love or whatnot..

This happiness that the brain is, of course, as illusionary as anything else coming from the brain. Nevertheless, feeling happy, you do not have a need to perceive the experiences the brain produces so they seem to manifest a socialistic, capitalistic or another conceptual world. Instead, you perceive your reaction to the experience as ´it is what it is.´Therefore, as they remain neutral there is nothing to prevent you from feeling entertained by them. Eventually, you so much that you cannot ask for more. Thus the belief that it is possible to be and have more than that which is one have been undone while you felt entertained by it.

Should you not want that, you better stop reading Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings. If you, on the other hand, feel fed up with being special, go on reading them or simply have your fear of not being good enough ignite a take-off into the empty breath, so you, in less than a second, enter a state of not-knowing and the transparent bliss of nothing (see hack #5.2 Uncontrolled speed leads to a state of not-knowing) from which you return as a basic self and thus, eventually, so happy that you eventually have no more to ask for. Be aware that, just like death, Alexius´ Duality Hacks are the end of everything you believe in being and having or can become and have. But unlike death, which seems to take your life away, Alexius´ Duality Hacks do not take anything away but the belief that you are someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

In this process, there might be moments where you feel sad about losing interest in what you used to perceive as special. If so, remember that you are not leaving anything behind but the foolish idea that there is more than that which is one. In other words, you leave nothing because there is no more than that which is one since it is formless and therefore endless.

Consciousness is a fabrication of the brain, that it has made with the purpose of keeping you occupied with the awareness of something, so the nothingness of it is not exposed.

APPENDIX:
Since it takes more than one to leave that which is one, nobody has left it. Thus the purpose of Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings is not to bring you back to oneness but to undo the belief that you are someone in a world where there seems to be more than one.

That is why the above steps, or anything else in Alexius´ Enlightened Non-Teachings, should not be taken literally. They are only pointers. But not to that which is one since it involves more than one to point to something. Instead, they point to that which is not one. When seeing it is nothing disguised as something, what you see does not seem to have the power to make you believe it is real, wherefore there is no belief to hide the formlessness of oneness.
